Aftermarket Temp Sensor located in T-stat Housing?

I was told by a reliable source you can drill and tap an aftermarket temp sensor into your stock Nytro T-stat housing. You just drill out the center of passageway in the pictured casting boss and then tap it for your sensor (see picture). Has anyone else done this and how did it work?

Works fine, but my sensor was a bit small so i had to make a sleeve/bushing.

I did this also! Much better than cutting up a coolant hose and adding a t- fitting.
