Ect gauge, sensor location

Has anyone had any luck installing the sensor for an aftermarket gauge in the void on the t-stat housing?

its not a bad idea but i spent the $5 on an adapter and put it into the hose that passes in front of the gas tank. no leaks and didnt have to risk my dumbass drilling crooked or running the npt tap too deep to get a good seal

This route was 7 including the 1/4 npt tap. Looks great and should work great
