I would like everyone to take a close look behind their secondary clutch. The last 3 Apex/Attak sleds I've worked on now all had an excess amount of grease on the jackshaft which was smeared around into the jackshaft bearing and bulkhead area. When driving the sleds the wind turbulance caused by the secondary clutch would cause this grease to get thrown onto the belt and primary clutch resulting in very poor performance.
What I have done is removed the secondary clutch and wiped the jackshaft, bearing holder, and bulk head area dry. I then reapplied a thin film of grease back onto the jackshaft where the secondary clutch rides.
If your experiencing poor performance, you may want to wash your belt in hot soapy dish water. You can also wash both your primary and secondary clutch sheaves with hot soapy dish water to remove any grime that may be on them.
