when i was at the show in allentown pa. the yammi rep told me that a letter was going out to all mono/shock owners telling them that their skids would be updated to the 06 specs free of charge. did anyone else hear this or do you think he was just blowing smoke

ha i went to one of the 06 shows...and i knew more than the damn rep did. what kind of idiots do they have runnin the shows? they had a mono shock susp. set up behind the apex's and had how it worked and whatever. i asked the rep if it was an 05 or an 06...he said an 06 but it wasnt...the susp. wasnt reenforced at all and didnt have any grease zerks...i think yamaha needs to get someone that knows what there doin out there-or atleast give that guy a back seat

Those reps at the shows are mostly just salesmen from dealerships, which expains their lack of product knwledge. Yes the regional rep is probably there somewhere, but not all of those guys are really up to speed on product changes and updates, theyre not really as much of a factory rep as they are a traveling wholesale salesman.

The fixes for the '05 would be great, but I'll believe it when I see the letters to the consumers!
It would be very unYamaha like! Not to say it wouldn't be a great thing to do!
Manufacturers doing the right thing happens sometimes. I was a dealer tech in '93 when the first Mach Z's were delivered, they ripped but there were many issues.
The update "kit" was impressive to say the least. Every '03 was eligable for the kit, it was a 4' square cube delivered truck freight.
The box contained a complete motor, new pipes(3) and muffler, primary and secondary clutches, and jackshaft bearings with reinforcements for the tunnel area around the bearing!
Now that is taking care of the customer! Thats how bad Ski-Doo wanted to get back to the top in snowmobiling, and they did.

While it would cost a few bucks it would go a long way towards cementing Yamaha's position in our sport. This suspension was rushed out a year too soon and Yamaha should fess up and make it right for the 05 riders. They did not do anything for the 03/04 RXI guys now is the time to make up for it.
