Hi guys
not what I wanted my first post to be about but I'm kinda up the creek on this one.....acctually stuck in it!!!!!
Here's my story,I was riding a 2013 nytro mtx.
Went sledding last weekend and when I went to unload off the truck it started but was idling like crap and flashing a code 84,(throttle cable adjustment is good) I hit the throttle a couple times to see if it would clear but it wouldn't and it wouldn't throttle up so shut it off and started it back up and the code was gone and it seemed fine, so unloaded and took it for a short run to see if it was ok....everything seemed good so took off went for the ride but all day everytime I shut it off and started it up it would flash a code 84 but I was able throttle past it,but it didn't seem to be running right...seemed to have have a miss for lack of a better description, then got stuck in a creek and as murphy's law would have it thats where it decided to become a real challenge.I shut it off,got my shovel out and started to dig for awhile then a little while longer finally had enough moved and packed into the creek that I could try to get out when I started it up this time code 84 wouldn't clear so bypassed the t.o.r.s....code 84 went away and it seemed to run fine for about 20mins then it started to miss and run like crap, the only way to keep it running was to keep it above 1/3 throttle, above that it seemed to be fine, didn't seem to be lacking power but at idle and below 1/3 throttle runs like crap.
any help would be much appreciated....don't want to put the sled away with this problem hanging over me.
thanks in advance

My brother-in-law had what sounds like a similar issue with his Phazer, though I don't remember if his was throwing any codes... He tried several things (adjustments and replacing parts) without any luck and then took it to the dealer. Ended up being a throttle position sensor or something similar...

Thanks
The TPS had crossed my mind but other than the cable adjustment I haven't been able to find any info on what conditions will throw a code 84

He tried cable adjustments, replacing coils, etc. If I remember correctly he used to have to let it warm up forever, after the light went out, before it would run right. After running like that for a while he started having random bogging/power loss, like a miss or pulling spark. That's when he had enough and took it in...

Try disconnecting wires to the speed sensor.
Driveshaft bearing may be toast.
Worked on an Apex with similar symptoms to get 40 miles to home.

recently had something similar to mine happen. Dealer found that the throttle cable had come out at the throttle body. Basically, sled would start more or less fine when cold but once warm wouldn't idle well at all. Hold the throttle open a little and seemed good. When not holding the throttle, it almost seemed like it had dropped a cylinder. Dealer had to take a lot apart to find the issue.
