Alot of ice build up

Are you guys having the same problem with your Nytros? I have alot of snow and ice build up towards the back of the running boards and I had to wipe off the tail light every time we stopped. Any ideas on how to fix this?

only seems to happen in real cold situations where snow dust is abundant. It was almost as bad on my rev (running boards) but not having a rear heat exchanger contributes to the ice/snow in the tunnel etc.

We put about 50 miles on yesterday and it as about 28,So it was not that cold. Which reminds me,What about the heat coming off those clutches,is that normal?

I rode Tug Hill yesterday (rode up to Cedar Pines to watch the Slednecks show) morning and afternoon went from the teens to hight 20's I had no buildup to speak of. The only time I have ever had enough build up to be annoyed was when it was single digits...don't know what to tell you. Maybe our trails (Parish to Tug hill) are so beat most of the time that the bumps knock the build up off before it freezes?

Well I am sure tughill trails are packed down.I have been riding in powder,About a foot of fresh snow.

I've complained about this as well. Here is my ice build up after about a 170 mile ride.

I can't wait for someone to come out with a rear heat exchanger mod.

Yea,Ill be there buying that mod for sure. Since I was the lead sled today the guy behind me said a big chunk of ice came out from under my sled and slapped him in his shoulder. Also went on to say I need to brush off my light because he can barely see it from all the snow on it.

If your not running studs, remove the stud protectors in the tunnel. This won't apply to you diablo. Do a search of snow buildup. Lot's of guys have come up with some ideas on this.

Yea but I am running studs,I am going to do a search. Maybe I can out rain-x on the tail light. I am going to do a search and I will let you guys know what I come up with.

I'm not sure if you can install a rear rad/heat exchanger on NYTRO'S but on my APEX LTX I installed 1 and their's hardly any ice build-up it just keeps melting and faling off...

Right now you cant,but I really hope they make one. The extra heat exchanger will help with over heating on hard packed snow as well.

This happened to me as well, was going over some bumps and a chunk of ice the size of a cinderblock and a half dropped out, almost killing the rider behind me (said it bounced right up at chest height). In my mind a rear heat exhanger is the only true solution to this, anything else is a stop gap measure. I do my best to knock the ice out, but its still there all the time. Oh well.

I've done a search and seen what people are comming up with, but a rear heat exchanger is really what I'm after.

Spray your tunnel with pam cooking spray. this works great. No Ice build up.

4 things:

1. The tail light is LED and seems to stay visible even though it gets completely snow covered.

2. The ice buld up is no damn joke! I bottomed out going 80 as the trail made a sharp dip and a HUGE junk of ice broke off. The ice block bounced once and then skipped up and my buddy collided into it at about 80 as well. It busted the trim on his windshield and worse, busted his Skidoo modular shield. The outer shield was cracked about 3" right between the eyes! He was so shook up that I thought he was going to turn around and go back to the Hotel. He said a 20 lb rock coming at him woudnt have felt any different.

3. I think the problem is the open exhaust myself. This summer while I have the front sub frame off straightening and welding it up, I think I'll custom bend some aluminum to deflect the snow off the headers and muffler.

4. The snow flap is way to high on these. Not to mention they stick straight out after snow packs under the bracket. Need to put chains or cables like the ice racers have or something.
