My K&N Alpha CAI filter is covered with belt dust,i did just wash it with dawn dish soap, and its outside air drying. Does anyone have any ideas how to clean it any better? I used a scrubber used for dishes, with dawn soap on it,but the wire that covers the filter was hard on the pad,and it don't look much cleaner. The view on the sled was dry and dirty, the view on table was cleaned.

Do you have the prefilter over your filter?

Pete that K&N cleaner is awesome stuff it will clean it well. Was the filter Pink colored when new? If so it was oiled. In that case use the K&N oil also. Spray can.

Ya,i got one with my Cai kit,but it got lost during our sled rebuild, and I just got another one today from Ulmer,so once I get the filter cleaned correctly I will reassemble with the cover on it.

No steve, the filter was the color it is now,and was dry,no oil.

Thanks a lot Dan,for getting me a cleaner,i will try and get that one. Pete
Pete I am thinking that since it was never oiled the cleaner isn't going to work very well. Those filters are cotton. Maybe try Zout. For clothes. Then ask Ulmer if it's supposed to be oiled.

Ya,that filter is not paper for sure, has wire all over it,and material seems to be a tough cloth type material,i guess call ulmer is in need.

I hate the unknown, this filter cleaning thing,is starting to get to me,i did find zout cleaner at Walmart, and could get the k&n cleaner 99-0621,but unsure if either one of them is suppose to be used,I have tried calling everyone who may know, with zero results,no one is answering there phone. MR Sled, you have same filter I have, what are your thoughts?

I use simple green on the dry filter on my truck then let it air dry. It looks similar to a k&n but it is not oiled.

do you scrub it with any type of steel brush or stiff hair type brush?

get in there with old toothbrush and cleaner.
Good idea Dan,all I need toknow now is what type of cleaner to use,and it was pink, like cannadale questioned,i guess that color is the oil type, but this came with no instructions on care of the filter, someone must know, also I wonder if I can use air to help.
