Alpha CAI filter what to clean with

Sorry if you misunderstood, the marks will only be there,if you have this filter installed,as it is almost to large in Dia. it gets squashed between the hood and bottom charge tube.
I thought it was large too when I got Toms....I think some other CAI setups use a much more practical size, I think it was Ben's that looked to fit better....I dont see the need for such large size as is simply an intake point.

Yes,i feel it is about .400 thou to big of Dia. Dan,it could be smaller Dia. and be a tad longer, would be ok,but any larger Dia. will not fit w/out squashing the hood into it.

Hi dan,the filter is paper and wash with soap and water,we do not oil it> Alphapowersport today told me we can clean it with K&N Kleen, but do not oil. Dan which Tom did you install one of these on? And did you notice any more low end snap with it on?

Never installed it...just ordered it and were waiting for tune/tweak from Ben but season ended.

Alpha Below is more rectangular...

I wonder what filter Ben uses in his kit? Bens kit Below is more tapered style like a cone.

I like that filter, but not sure if it will snug up onto Alpha hose, and if it does,it protrude out that far,but looks like it will suck more cold air in,Dan if you can find a number and prefilter for that tapered filter,i would be interested. Thanks Pete Hey Dan did you ever try the Dalton reverse helix 32/38 I have a 38 STM and like it,but would like some more quick revving bottom end,and STM has a variety of 4 coil long torsion secondary springs there orange spring is 125/230.

My K&N Alpha CAI filter is covered with belt dust,i did just wash it with dawn dish soap, and its outside air drying. Does anyone have any ideas how to clean it any better? I used a scrubber used for dishes, with dawn soap on it,but the wire that covers the filter was hard on the pad,and it don't look much cleaner. The view on the sled was dry and dirty, the view on table was cleaned.
Man.... nasty!
K&N have a spray cleaner that you rinse out with water. You need a prefilter on that for sure ! Get the recharger (red stuff) too.

I called Alpha, there filter is not a K&N filter, but it sure does look very similar to a K&N,it has red fabric covered by mesh screen, and I did buy a K&N kleener and foam spray, but he told me(alpha) that I could clean it with K&N kleener spray, but do not oil it,and run prefilter,i had the prefilter that came with kit from Ulmer racing, but when we got around to installing the CAI kit,it was missing, and we took a chance to run w/out it,but the belt dust of the stock belt is so messey,i would not again run w/out my prefilter installed. So I got another one from Allen, and it is now installed.
