Just bought an 05 Alpine Turbo RX1 Mtn.
Guy I bought it from said no head shim, but i can see one (installed by the dealer).
What boost can you run on 91 octane from Shell or Esso at 3000 elev?
The wastegate actuator is not adjustable (will be changing it)?
My Bender was adjustable and it looks like the exact same turbo, just different wastegate actuator.
It spikes to 10psi and settles at approx 8psi on an autometer gauge at 10700-10800rpms.

Probably putting the meth injection from the old sled on this one this summer.
Don't want this one to melt down like the Bender just did after 1500 miles (Bad gas and too much boost?).
Thanks
Chris

You can use the boost octane calculator in the sticky, but you must know exactly what compression you have.

i'll have to check with Alpine on the size of the headshim to figure the C/R...hoping someone had some experience?
thanks

I think it's a 2mm head shim.
I wouldn't chance any more then 8psi with that type of gas, at that altitude. I run 94 octane Chevron at 10-12 pounds, no issues with a 2 mm shim from 3200 feet up to 6500 feet. Another thing, depending where you are, find out where your fuel is shipped from. For the little extra insurance, I would run the 94, and stay away from Shell fuel, Chevron is reliable as long as the station turns the tanks over regularly, such as in my case.

can get shell or esso 91...sometimes they're out of supreme at one station, so it doesn't get real old.
Pretty sure i'm putting my meth injection on this sled this summer.
Need to get the adjustable wastegate rod to lower my baseline boost for sure.
thanks

Here's the response from Alpine...thanks Julien for the quick answer

With the head shim you can run 12lbs boost on pump fuel (91 octane). The head shim is .060 thick and has a compression ratio of 9.3:1. The billet actuator is priced at $199 +tax. If you have any questions please feel free to give us a call at (250)804-4334.

Thank you

Julien
