I was looking at Aluminum Wheels for the rear , the site I looked at them on said rubber was only needed if track was studded.
I assumed that without rubber on rubber, some track wear would occur.
Also , does adding wheels with spokes etc increase the chances of a wheel freezing from ice?
What are your opinions?

I have all in alu without rubber. 6000 km and no sign of track wear.
All my wheels are the yamaha tuning fork. The two upper ones use to freeze, the others don't.

If i remember correctly, they are the same size as the rear idlers. 7 or 7.25".
I believe they are 7".
I dont use my upper ones, as i just installed a new skid, which has larger upper wheels.

If your not in Norway, shipping will kill the whole deal. Its expensive.

I use the Aluminum rear axle wheels merely for looks. I bought them right from Yamaha when they had a clearance sale at my local dealer. They do have the rubber around the circumfrence and are of the Yamaha tuning fork design. They never freeze to the rear skid. I also do not run studs outside the rails. They do provide additional strength in the rear for mountain riders. I imagine they are also more durable in racing conditions.

I found that when using the billet wheels no rubber the bearings die quickly.
