Well, I took out my 2011 Apex for it's first voyage today. Put on only 60 miles because it's going to blizzard here in the northeast, and didn't want to try driving home in it. I feel it's equally important to tell what king of sled you're coming from. I also have an 06 IQ polaris 700 touring model, and that's all I have to compare to. However, I have a lot of experience as a motocross racer, now retired.
The sled is impressive no doubt. The power, especially through the mid-range is awesome. The first time I hit it at at 20-25mph roll, the bars came right out of my hand, as I was not expecting that pull. It's crazy quick. However, I did not feel comfortable at first going fast. The front darted so much compared to my polaris touring. It was like riding an old suzuki RM motocrosser with it's headshake. I did however get used to it, and I think it calmed down a little, or I just got used to it, I don't know. I think i need to do something to get rid of that jittery feel. Going hot into corners, the inside ski lifted some, but not enough to spook me. The track so far is unstudded, and surprisingly, it had good traction on hard pack. I did have one problem. The plastic locking nut which holds the key switch in place came off. I went to turn the sled on, and the key turned 270 degrees, and I was like "oh #*$&@", until I saw what was going on. I tightened it back in place and all was good. The hand warmers are really only good at the highest setting, other than that they were really not that good. Compared to my polaris, they suck. No hyfax wear, but only put on sixty miles. Sixty miles used about a half tank of gas.
Overall, I'm impressed with the motor, fit and finish, but I have to do something about the darting, it was nerve wracking. I will wait and see how the hand warmers are when it gets really cold. Today was around 20 degrees. Definately pleased though, and the few problems can be fixed. BTW, I had it up to 90mph, and it still wanted to pull. I'm guessing about 110mph max, but not sure.

Install a set of Snowtrackers. It's the best thing you'll ever do to your sled. 100% darting gone.

Of course we are !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
With all the changes to the 2011 Apex it is very near a first year sled and it will no doubt be subject to a lot of TY tweaking.

I had the exact same thing happen to my key switch on my apex xtx.
If your going to ride groomed trails you gotta
tighten limiter straps
More ski pressure by tightening front springs.
Take out the weight transfer
Duelly caebides
huge diff!!!

1800kms on my 2011 APEX SE & it is great. Awesome power & very little darting problems. Rear shock set at 185 PSI & fronts at 85 PSI. Best riding here ever!!!!

50$ dartless plates sold on ty will fix the darting
Tightening the front springs would raise the nose of the sled to some degree and place more wieght on the rear of the sled. How does that increase ski pressure?Turk said:I had the exact same thing happen to my key switch on my apex xtx.

Tightening front skiis shocks
adds skis pressure.

This also raises the ride height and could effect the inside ski lift.Turk said:Tightening front skiis shocks

so if you have fox floats you have less ski pressure?

Well I took her out on a longer run today. 130 miles. I can tell you this. This sled can close the gap very fast. I rode with a guy I just met today and he was able to corner better than me, probably because of my handling but on the the straights I would catch him so fast it was almost scary. From like 50-85/90 very quickly. It seems to dart less, but engine braking load the front end and the rear end gets squirrley. Very wierd. Good thing I have good riding skills (not bragging), because that will unnerve you if spook easily. Got 13mpg with aggressive hauling butt all day. Are you guys having any trouble getting it into reverse? I had trouble several times.
