Sorry for another oil light question. I did a little searching but didnt find what i was looking for.

Anyways, I was out riding last weekend and put on around 150 miles or so and I stopped at a watering hole and came back out after 30 minutes or so and my oil light was on when I went to start my Nytro. It was not parked on an incline or anything. I shut the sled off and waited a bit as I know they sometimes come on and if you shut them off they will go away but after I started it again it didn't go away. So i shut the sled off and checked the oil level. The level of the oil was low, thus kicked on the oil light. I am trying to figure out where I would have lost oil because I know these motors don't burn oil. (Keep in mind Before the ride i had changed the oil). When changing the oil I filled up the oil filter w/oil and let it warm up and checked it multiple times and it may have been a little over full. Would this cause a problem with any of this because I also know its good to run them a little low rather than a little over full but I didn't think anything of it at the time. Hopefully someone can help explain this. (There were no leakes under the sled or anything that I noticed).

How much oil did you end up putting in? Despite what it read, how much did you put in

Sure the filter went on right, without the old oil seal sticking to the pan or anything?

It was 3 quarts and then a little more, not sure on exact.. I checked on the filter before to make sure the seal wasn't in still and didn't see one in there but I am going to check that again when I pull the sled off the trailer.

Sorry to hijack (just a bit), I changed my oil a month ago but wasn't aware of the sticking seal issue. I am pretty sure I looked at the oil filter mount and wiped it clean, but don't specifically remember doing it. Didn't check the old filter either. How worried should I be about a potential double stacked seal?

Yeah he said he warmed it up, and if there's no leaks its tough to say what to do besides fill it up and check it again.

Remember not to screw in the dipstick though for the check. If the filter was full and you put 3.x in it, shouldnt need much.

Should I check something else or do any other maintenance if the sled was a little over full mark on the oil level??

I know it says in your profile you have the ROV but it might not hurt to check in the air box just to be sure.

Ok, so i looked tonight. Def. oil coming from somewhere just not sure where. Took skid plate off and looked to see if the oil was coming from the filter but it did not look to be that way. I can't see where it's leaking, anybody have any suggestions??

Id check the seal not worth having issues down the road

Lines still on the ROV?

Get in there with a light and see if you can find the source.. Otherwise yeah, Drain the oil into a clean container and salvage what you can, double checking things and paying for a bit more oil, beats an engine job and loss of a season. Take off the filter and check seal.. etc

Yea, the Lines on the ROV looked all intact. I am going to tear into it some more tomorrow. Didn't know if anyone could point me in a direction besides follow all the lines??

It just seems suspect that its leaking right after an oil change. No cracks around the oil tank? Did you check the airbox afterall?

Under pressure while running, it could be spraying somewhere making it hard to trace the source.

Put some paper towels or cardboard under it for the night with the plastic removed and see where it's dripping on to it.

My money is on the filter seal. From personal experience
