Hope the mods don't get PO'd at me for a double post, but I thought I might get more response here on the General Discussion.

Just looking for some opinions here people. I bought an FX-Nytro RTX (brand new) & have managed only 70-some miles before our season has come to an end. So far this thing is simply awesome. A big leap coming off my '06 Nytro. The '06-07 Nytros are great, don't get me wrong.

Question is, should I just leave the oil in it over the summer & then run it to the 300 mile 1st service next winter, OR change it so it's pure & fresh for storage?? I know 70 miles is nothing, but it still has fine particles & will prolly get slightly acidic. Thanks guys!!

I really don't know, so just bringing it up. Is there an additive or special oil used for/in that original oil that promotes/insures proper breakin?

Just thinking there may be more to it than the price of the oil.

Nothing that I'm aware of.

ahicks, Not from what I've read is there anything special about the oil in there from the get-go. To my understanding it's good 'ol Yamalube 0-30.

lakercr.... I already know what yours & my opinions are on the whole oil/service issue (other post on a certain persons low compression issues) I'm just questioning only 70 miles of use on the oil & whether it's already had enough run time to get acidic enough to do damage.

Gotcha. My opinion would be that the oil is fine and does not need to be changed.

What I mean above is that for $35 and an hour of your time you wouldn't have to worry about it all summer if it is on your mind...

Do it now. Some say to change it after the first 20 or 30 miles as that is when most of the wear takes place. You could skip the 3oo mile change if you change the filter too.
