well unfortunately it looks like our season could be at its end once again with none of that great March riding we always loved. Started out riding a lot, mainly on my cat 800..had some things I was trying on that so the viper didn't get much use the first part of the season. Started riding it more mid January then on January 18th I had an accident at work on a table saw, ended up losing the tip of my pinky, 2/3 of my ring finger and cut in bad on my middle finger with lots of tendon and nerve damage. Everything is healing up good there, my dale finger is a long ways from being back to 100%, lots of stretching that needs to happen there to get it moving fully again. Fortunately at about week 3 I was able to get a mitten on and do some riding and at week 4 I could finally get everything back in a glove and still have use of my index finger for pulling the break lever. My last few rides of the year were on my viper. As of the last 2 years I ran 10 psi and was able to get full function of the rev xtend on the ignition module. Over the summer I added a hi/low boost switch from Ulmer and set it at 8/12 psi..unfortunately at 12 psi the rev xtend did the dreaded cut out and wouldn't let it turn past 8500. So I ended up turning that function off and just ran with stock rev limiter. Ended up at 2500 engagement with osp weights and gwg spring w/ 14.5 mm rollers and a 51/43 apex helix with stock pink spring. Amazing acceleration! I've actually found it responds better at 87-8800 than revving higher, atleast at this boost level. At the lower boost it liked it running 92-9400 on a long pull. In the field behind my house my previous best speed (speedo) was 113 running around 7-800 feet. Last weekend we had perfect snow out back and had a few guys up just testing and tuning, I rolled probably 30 mph and hit it and held it for only half the length of the field and let off when I seen 110. Just amazing how smooth and easy it is to ride but yet how hard and fast it hits at wot. 2 days later it was 60 degrees and raining and now our snow is all gone. Only managed around 200 miles on my viper this year but did do a good 600 miles on my cat early on before my accident so it was still a decent season for me. Next year I'll be going into my 6th winter with my viper..she's all dialed in, washed and put away. Ready for the first snowfall!

That is a pair of good lookers ... sleds are ok too. I enjoy seeing another side of the sled enthusiasts on this site.

Well, if the pattern holds true and you get our weather 3 days after it leaves us you are in for about 2 ft of nice packing snow. Don't put her to bed yet.

I got a good couple of weeks earlier in the season riding locally and spent a week up north in the Sudbury Ont area before my season ended due to a health issue. I normally make it up to Tug Hill and Old Forge several times every season but I didn't get a chance to get up there this season. Even if the weather cooperates next month I can't ride again until the 3rd week of March so it's probably not going to be worth pulling the sleds out again. I would like to test another clutch setup that I just installed and I'm also working on a few other things but I guess that'll have to wait. After a couple of poor winters I really had my hopes up for a good riding season but once again the weather isn't cooperating and now on top of that my heart decides to misfire.

I am planning on making it up on the Hill for the SNIRT Run this spring.

This is my last hurrah for the winter. I am in Calumet as I type this. Supposed to get a bit of snow tonight. There looks to be 3 ft on the ground. Supposed to be in the 30’s all week. Hoping to try the Curve ski 1 more time, since I’ve put the slim Jim’s on. Hoping for good results. Currently have about 1200 miles on for this year. We will see what we can do for miles. I am up here until Thursday.

My season ended on February 20th at 10:35 am. Almost had three of my fingers ripped off in an accident while working.

You seem to be coming along pretty good with the recovery. I had a season ending injury as well, lucky to have all my fingers. I'm sorry to hear about your hand injury and the lose of some of your fingers. I hope your recovery continues to progress.

Yes I feel it's coming good considering. Hoping to get good strength back for motorcycle season, otherwise I won't be able to pull the clutch lever. I ride a roadstar warrior and it takes a good size hand and a good grip to pull the clutch lever..so it's going to be a struggle. If I can't make it work I guess I'll hafta sell it and buy one of those sport touring things with the easy 2 finger pull clutch levers.
