My buddy had isues with loose head bolt on his 600 Etec and so he decided to get the 800 Etec.
What happens? Recall on the Pistons for the 2011 800 Etec Renegade.
. I will replace slides all day long versus having my engine messed with every 1200 miles.

This is NOT general Yamaha info.... please start posting stuff in the correct sections or they will be removed.

Your buddy will get new pistons and rings, but not until his motor has 3125 miles on it. At the same time they will inspect his crank seals, and if there are any problems he'll get a new crank.
This recall/update is good til 2015 and no matter who owns the sled, with or without warranty.
This is my understanding of it at least. My sled only has 2100 miles or so, so I'm gonna hopefully wait til the end of the season to bring it in.
Good or bad? I dunno. I don't like opening my motors up unless I have to, but I'm glad Doo is acknowledging the problem and doing something about it.
