All you need:
5mm allen.
#3 Phillips
10mm extended socket.
small flat screw driver
Small pliers.
Exacto knife
4" high density foam (from proper apolstery store) 15"X24" - $15
Staple gun and two rungs of 1/4" staples.
Small hammer.
Use first three to remove exhaust covers, plastic cover and seat.
Use next two to remove all staples out of seat all the way back to the hump.
Exacto the foam on the sides at 45 degrees. Shave front down so it would go under the tank alright, and shave the back to where the seat comes up.
Lift existing foam pad. Place new 4" under it (the way back).
Put your knee on the bottom and pull cover back. Staple all all around (starting at front - alternating left/right). Use hammer to make sure they are in.
Re-install seat.
Handle bars can be moved farther forward (since your up higher, and rotate Brake and throttle).
So you are carving up the existing foam seet and placing the 4 inch piece underneath? Is that right? Do you have any pictures on how it turns out this way? Is it better then putting it untop??

Looks like me and yamadog are the only pro-bender guys out here. All though getting the damn thing was quite a chore (not a big fan of all the bull about the shipping)I am impressed with the product. After major adjustments i am very happy. I would like to compare it with other aftermarkets but all i know is it is heads and tails far better then stock. I feel for the $ its the way to go. only IF you can get em.

03 Griz - the stock foam is not touched. Only the new foam pad that you exacto'd (if that's a word), and I put it under the existing stock foam. You shave down the new 4" pad because you don't want the sides of the seat to bulge out, nor at the front (which will has to fit under the tank).
There are lots of pictures of guys who have done this already. Try a search.
I would recommend under the sotck foam than over - as the sotck foam already has a nice formed profile to it.
