Has anyone tried or know of any disadvantages of using direct drive. I was told it would take 40lbs off the front end.

It won't take 40 lbs off, 10 or so is the true number. The place to contact would be Radical Machines Inc, they make some of the best custom mountain machines and are using them on all their own machines and also Pro-Line Performance (major suspension/chassis builder for ice, asphalt, and grass drags) uses the RMI direct drive and custom 1 piece billet aluminum chassis. Check it out for yourself @ http://www.radicalmachines.com/modules. ... page&pid=1
There's an email address & phone number to contact them on purchasing a unit.
