Since we don't have any snow, I thought I'd raise the question of asphalt racing. Where can I go to find the parts to convert it? Is there an asphalt racer in the house?? :ORC

There's quite a few asphalters here...go ask your question and do some searches for previous posts in the Racing section of this forum. Tons of good info there and it's VERY active in the summer months. I may be converting mine for the summer as well and have learned a lot about it in that forum. I'll be new to it as well...

Where can you go to buy the track and skis? I haven't seen anything in the magazines. I'm looking to see how expensive it will be to do so. We have an awesome dragstrip about an hour from my house that is one of about 4 all concrete dragstrips in the country. (no bump as it changes to asphalt)
Do you think it is too hard on your sled given the extra traction. All of my snow riding buddies have been talking about it, but nobody wants to tear up their machines if ther is too much stress on them...

No Apex yet, but an RX1 for 3 seasons now. Best to look for used stuff first to keep costs down, try the classified forums such as the one on this site, otherwise try Wahl Brothers in the US or Royal Distributing in Canada, for some of the stuff. To start, you need an asphalt track, skis, cool down cart (could be homemade, rad, pump, batt. quick connects) and quick disconnects on your sled. Spend a few hours in the racing forum and read the posts there. I've got a 15" x 121" track that I'll be advertising in the spring, which has some life left, good start. Depending on where you are as it could be pricy on shipping costs.

I believe nos-pro ran his attack last year. If you're just starting out, go with used stuff. Once spring gets closer check out the classified on amsnow. Lots of asphalt stuff goes through there. Getting all new stuff would be pretty expensive. There's several threads in the racing forum with lots of good info. I'll be starting my 3rd year on my rx this spring. If you have any questions, just ask.

Ran a stock Apex with a Wahl Bros rear skid last season. This season I plan on setting up a 2007 RTX for a few weekends using the stock skid and a 15 wide track. I will be posting a step by step on installing everything. If you buy everything used you will probably have in the neighborhood of $1000 into it. Watch http://www.amsnow.com in the forums as the For Sale section usually has some very well priced items. Also a good place to look sometimes as well is http://www.ebay.com. Although both of those places are somewhat quite right now, they will both pick up within the next month or two with asphalt parts for sale.
