Anybody cut off the snow flap??

I can't back up unless I am on perfectly groomed trails without the flap getting sucked into the track causing the sled to bind up. I am considering cutting the flap off at the line about 3 inches from the bottom, has anybody done this, good or bad idea??

first thing i did on my apex it does through some more snow but i never have a problem backing up

my friend has a vector and he did it for that reason and it works better in reverse than it did before but the person behind you might not like you very much because there is a fair amount of snow and such that fly out easily. i have mine cut off on my nytro and it works great so i would recomend it.

Be careful in LOW snow condition it tends to overheat your slides due to lack of snow dust, its design to keep a certain draft to keep SNOW DUST in the tunnel area some guys where OVERHEATING their motors in some cases.

I think I am going to cut it off. If I don't like it I will order the blue flap that I wanted to get.

i did on my 05 vector and it works exelent i strongly recamend it

I used a dremel tool and cut mine to just below the line....even rounded off the corners for that "factory" look. No more problems backing over it and I've never had any overheating issues either.

Yes, it will throw some more snow......but that just helps to keep people off you're tail.

Just picked up a used vector and when i test rode it i sucked the thing into the track, it looked like crap so after i bought it i threw a spare ski-doo flap on and cut that one short and even bent the metal support piece out, also i get off the sled when backing up.

I put the flap from an 07/08 Apex on my Vector. It is stiffer and doesn't get sucked up any where near as much as it did. Looks better as well...
