I replaced my 2 inside idler wheels with kimpex aftermarket 2004 rx-1 wheels from sport mart inc in Utica mich. at a cost of $22.00 usd each
The bearing on the stock wheels is 25 mm ID and 12 mm thick central to the wheel.
the kimpex wheel bearing is 15mm and central to the wheel so as it would fit the stub shaft shoulder to the bearing race it will push the wheel inboard by 1.5mm ( aprox. .060" ) you must replace the stock bolts with longer ones.
I had a concern originally as I thought the wheel would rub on my driver lugs .......but if you spin ANY wheel they do not run true and wobble ALOT!
the kimpex wheel is very robust (slightly wider on the rubber but tapered)
it comes with a plastic insert to reduce the bearing id fit from 25mm to
20mm you can remove this insert and use the 25mm dia to fit your stub shafts.
bottom line I have over 100 miles of very hard riding and cannot see any sine of rubbing or interference $44.00 and problem solved.

I found a dealer in Wallingford CT who as of today still had several windshields and sets of 05 idler wheels in stock. Call 203-265-1206.

Type in under the search box either 5.35 polaris or part #KX453122 for blue wheels or KX453125 for red.
Ran these because the 05 wheeles were junk. Thanks Rex. I think he was the one with the ticket here. No more hyfax wear and the wheels still look like new after 1000 miles!
There is a longer bolt part number that Rex gave me, but I don't have it handy. If you PM me I will get it for you. This IS the trick for bad hyfax wear and wheels tearing apart. I also put the graphite black hyfax on and they seemed to almost not wear aqt all in 100 miles with this set up. And the riding was not the greatest conditions either. In fact we had to cross a good mile or 2 with NO snow at all! Loaded up the running boards with snow and off we went.

The wheels I installed are Yamaha part #SMA-8EK38-01-SL (silver; blue is -BL; red is -RD; yellow is -YL)
Yamaha bolt, part #95817-10085-00, is the bolt to use (if you want it to have the stock "green" look). You actually only need to buy 4 of these bolts as your the front pair of idlers use a shorter bolt (so the other longers ones can be used here).
See:
http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/a...ail/5/426/1782/11684/all/1/2764/0/detail.aspx
Note these wheels are the standard diameter, but are wider, heavier duty, and use the thicker (and larger OD) 6205 bearing instead of 6005. The larger diameter Polaris wheels should help with hyfax wear. Last season my hyfax lasted 10,000 kms with stock diameter wheels so I didn't think I needed the larger wheels. I don't change my hyfax until it is worn down to less than 1mm thick.
As I mentioned above these have worked perfectly for just under 2500 kms so far with 0.060" machined off the mounts. The bearings are still in good shape (last season the stock 05 wheels with 6005 bearings were in fairly rough shape by 2000 kms).

I myself only replaced the outter wheels with the Poo wheels and the longer bolts. My inner wheels were holding up so I left them alone. I may replace the inners with the Poo wheels once they go bad, but for now I have 700 plus miles and so far it seems MUCH better since swapping the outters and the hyfax.
Thanks again Rex...

Are you saying that you used the Polaris wheels and just a longer bolt for the outside wheels?? Or did you need to do some machine work??
I too would like to change out my outer wheels......but do not want to do the machine work. So.....I guess my question to all you TY guys is:
1) Are there Doo, Po, MaxPerf. wheels with a larger diameter that will just bolt on to the Yamaha rail with the use of a longer bolt....without the need to do any machine work?
Thanks in advance guys!

That is exactly what I did. No machine work, but if I replace the centers, the spacers DO have to be machined for the wheels to ride where they should. At that point I will take off the .060 (I think) on those 2 spacers.Quad Power said:SNOWDOG:

Otherwqise if you want for now, all you need is the 4 wheels and 4 yami longer bolts. I know the wheels I posted are made by Kimpex and seem to really be holding up well. They were also the least expensive.
