just had a rip open up in my seat and i can buy the new seat cover from yamaha for $240 there telling me it's as simple as removing old one and restapling in new one, just curious if anyone had done it and is it as straight foward as there telling me

It's not as easy as your dealer is letting on. I just recovered my seat. You can see my thread here with lots of photos.

The seat pan is very hard to penetrate with consumer style staple guns, electric or spring assist. You will need a pneumatic type stapler and quality staples.
I tried but ended up cutting my losses and taking it to a good upholstery shop for them to complete.
They stretched, steamed and stapled it perfectly with stainless hardware. All done in the same day.
Seat cover cost $75
Upholstery shop labor cost $70

personally i would take it to a shop so that it's done right, by the time you spend 2-4 hours playing with it you will be more then happy to pay $50-100 to have it done. JMO
