I got a new heated shield and blew the 3 amp fuse twice this weekend. Should I just put a 5 amp fuse in it. Just checking to see if anyone else has blown the 3 amp fuse on it or if I have a bad shield or wire.
i found mine kept blowing because the cord end woul touch something metal and possibly short out? ive been careful for it to not touch anything besides the end on the helmet and its been good ever since
If you are blowing fuses it means your sheild and or cord are drawing too much amperage. Putting a larger fuse in and your risking burning up the wiring in your sled. I would try a new cord and take it from there.
I went through this when I first got my sled. I narrowed it down to the end hitting the running board or other metal parts. as long as I took great care with not letting that plug get wet or touch metal, I was fine.
I was going through a lot of fuses until I realized that.
Yeah, first day out, but luckily on way back to the trailer, my cord came undone from my helmet, and touched the running board. Stopped working after that. Replaced 3amp fuse and went on a short ride and so far no issues.
