My buddy and I have very big bragging right races. So far it's been a trade off of wins. It seems everytime we make changes the other guy loses. His last change was adding a Cobra track He gained a good 5 sled lenghts. It was a good gain, but I gained alot more with just my PCIII, ignition controler, airbox mod and Excell Pipe. I probably gained a good 8-10 sled lengths with those mods. So now I have bought a Cobra Track for this year. He's worried and I know it... As I write he has the following mods. 2007 F1000, 1st reflash, y-pipe, bullseye, clutching and for this year has so far added V-force reeds and a boondocker. I don't believe the last 2 mods (V-force reeds and a boondocker) will do damn thing especially if he does not have the numbers in right for the Boondocker, he will probabbly lose power. From what I have read, he does not need the boondocker with those mods. Anyways, now, he says he going to add a Speedwerx Pipe. It says it's a 16.6hp increase. If you add up his mods in hp as to what the numbers at the dyno are and it's about 190hp. Right now he is about 175-180 and we can trade wins and I think I can beat him with just me adding the Cobra track and a few other adjustments that I will do. One thing that I have learned about the F1000 and the Apex is this.... The F1000 does make good power, but the Drive train does not get the power to the ground properly. The Apex on the other hand does get the power to the ground pretty good. I should also note that he added the Tornition spring kit last year, but we did not get a chance to race at the end of the year, because his sled would only run on 1 cylinder (coils were cracked) On hard ground and I canged my gearing to 23/40 and lighten up my clutch weight, so at the end of the run I was pulling 11,100. Long race 3000-4000ft. I believe I would have beat him. He knows my sled is fast, that is why he's adding the pipe. What do you guys think? Anyone race a piped F1000 and win?

I spend a bit of time fooloing with a friend also on an 07 F1000. Last year I could get him on the holeshot by a few lengths but he was catching me and passing in a couple of thousand feet. At the time I had a Bender Exhaust which I felt took away power and 192 studs. He had a Jaws can and about 160 studs. As far as I know he has changed nothing this season but I have put the stock exhaust back on, going with 23/40 gears and Ulmer stage 2. Hopefully this will give me the advantage.

I have seen a lot on here saying the F1000's are slow but they do not show that in person.

I rode a claimed 185 horse F1000 last year. It felt good out of the hole but I felt that my RX1 had a stronger midrange. We never lined them up though. Not much help here.

That's because he had the Cobra track. That track helps alot.... My buddies had the 14" hacksaw before that with 152 studs and I could beat him with my ripsaw and 144 studs and all my other mods. But once he added the Cobra, he beat me 3out of 5 races. The other 2 we were dead even. So I new it was the track then. The softer conditions that we raced that time in were definitely an advtange for that track. On harder ground though, I think I could of beat him pretty easy.

Daranello, was he stock and you were stock?

no i meant just on top end.....5-10miles wide open......I would hold it open hoping his would exploed

Well I have a fresh 07 (500 miles) bone stock no pics Apex GT shorty. Buddy has an 08 F1000 also bone stock and fresh but has the cat clutch kit update. We agreed to run them bone stock no pics on the first trip this coming season. From the numbers I saw on the dream meter right after my 300 mile break in (129MPH) it seems like I have a pretty good runner. It is definitely faster than the fully modded RX-1 I got rid of.
We'll see. I would think he would take me stock to stock, but this Apex feels pretty quick. I was also seeing over 11,000 on the R's. That was a very good hardpack trail with a straight away for as long as you could see.
I'll be posting up this season as we both do our mods. He is not one to mod a lot though. He normally doesn't even run pics but with the 900 he had he did pic it and now this one it sounds like he will again. I don't see him throwing pipes and all that on it though so I am hoping by seasons end I will eat him.
My RX smoked his 900 and another 800 I ride with out of the hole bad...like 6-8 lengths, but top end they would pull away just a bit...

Holeshot stock sleds un-studded the APEX jumps ahead 3 to 4 sled lenght, in about 1000' or so the CAT starts to creep up, CAT'S are hard to beat on top end speed...short distance I beat him everytime, lake its a different story, reminds me of the old THUNDER CATS un beatable on long lake races tons of top end in those cats!

Thanks for the input everyone, but the Cats are not the fast top end. An Apex can pull the big end if you are setup right, plus conditions and whether you are on a road/ice or snow packed conditions will all play into the factor. The F1000 will put a good number on a road or ice, but it's not that big on snowpacked condition. I can pretty much pull the same as him on hardpack snow or trail conditions. I have pulled 111-113 on a groomed hardpacked trail with the 23/40 gearing and he said the last time he went out with the addition of his tortional conversion kit and that was when he said he topped out at 113 on his speedo. He has pulled 119 on the road, but I know I can do the same. I have not had the chance to run in a good area yet, but I will find it and I will go back to the 24/40 gearing to see what it will pull on the top end. My concern is not that much on top end (dependi g on the condition), because unless he is on ice, then I will not need to re-gear and the 23/40 gear is better on snow. Anyone else have any other run ins with F1000's.

my buddy just bought a crossfire 1000 so we will see too.. the 136 has to hurt the top end some and i know the clutching is horrible in these sleds stock..

I could always beat his old ZR900 as long as my belt was good and i wasnt over reving.. even if he got me out of the hole i would real him in at 500 feet and pass him

I just had a magazine where ROX built a F1000 that has over 200hp on pump gas..

Maybe i could send it to your friend.. LOL.. Just kidding

I guess we all just have to wait till the snow flys. 3 degrees C this morning so we are getting closer

If he puts a pipe, then for sure he will need to put more gas!

In that configuration the F1000 will pull 185-195HP, I don't think you have a chance.

Yep, I think you are right. The best I think I can hope for is him blowing it up after. :die Which, I think is possible...

Funny, you mention this! Yep they blow like popcorn, my riding buddy did blow his 3 times last season. He has switch to Z1T...
