i am running the ecp kit and a single bike pipe exhuast. i wanted to know what jets to run at 45-7000 ft.
i asked freddie and he said he really hadn't done any testing with this combo and i thought i woluld ask around to see what i could find.
i am running 160 mains stock needle position and a 2 inch inlet yosha straight through slip on. i run it around home here a bit at cooler temps but never really held it at any single rpms very long.
any help is greatly appreciated.

I am and have 162.5 jets with clip4 up on the needles and 2.5 turns. Stock pilot. 160 was way lean on the plugs (white)
It's touchy and I had a heck of a time getting it to run right here at Edmonchuk 2300feet elevation.
Went to the crowsnest last week and it ran quite well up to 7000. I'm sure it was running rich, but no other probs. Your 160's will probably be fine. The only thing that's really touchy is the carb heaters. When they're all the way off, the carbs tend to ice even with -5 temps, won't idle well. I guess because of all the extra cold air. If you leave the heaters all the way on, it wants to start really hard and run on 1-2-3 then 4 cylinders as it starts to get running. I tend to leave the valve part way open for a happy medium. I didn't find much power loss although I'm sure there must be some, not like a smoker though. I also put those ngk cr10ek's in although I haven't got a benchmark to compare to, they seem to run ok.
I have a R1 Carbon Fibre on mine. It's posted over in sled garage.
Powers not the prob, weight is. For me anyway.

thanks praire dog! i wanted to find a happy medium for jets so i could run them here and in the hills. so for the needles counting from the top(being 1) what position is the clip in? i will try to run the same set-up as you and see what happens.
my sled is 70+lbs lighter than stock right now, so i shouldn't be too bad. theoretically you could have a normally asperated rx-1 at under 500 lbs i have a good 25 lbs left to loose off this thing, most of it up front (hood , susp arms and shafts).

I raised the needles 1 full clip. More fuel. That would be 4 from the top. I'm curious on it, let me know please. If you get a chance, weigh your sled. I'm interested in that too.

i would have to weigh my sled full of everything ready to ride. you know they sell a shim kit for needles hey? you have 3 differant size shims to adjust needles, but with these 4 strokes we probably don't need them they aren't as finicky as a 2 stroke.

There are the half step shims already in there as you probably know.
Also, I use red springs.
