Hey there, just starting to think about the sled again now that summers over. I havent researched in a while and kn0w I have to do the donuts on my 07 Apex. Should I still just find the copper ones for replacements or is there other versions I should be looking at?
Many Thanks

I'm wondering the same thing for my 06 Attak. I haven't pulled it apart yet to determine if it needs them but may as well as I don't think they were ever replaced. Is everyone still confident in the copper replacement suggestion? Or are the OEM ones ok to use?

I just went through this on an 07 Attak I bought in July. I read literally about a hundred threads, talked to the mechanics at the dealership, and friends that are techs and they all led me to copper. I did it myself, and let me tell you, they fit nice! Solid fit. Very confident putting it all back together that I won't have to do this again for a very long time, if ever.

Sorry for the thread hijack! Where do you recommend purchasing from? I've read a few threads whereby there are ones with different quality. I'm in Canada if that matters...

Port Yamaha, Barn of Parts or Ulmer would be my choices.

Looks like he's not running the site anymore.
What is the best way to determine if I need new donuts? Should I just pull it apart and have a look? If I start it and cover the exhaust and it bogs and shuts off...my donuts should still be good correct?

Seeing if it bogs certainly would be a tell if I didn't start to sputter or die. I'd still want to take a look to see how worn, if the pipes are in tough shape etc. Have you never done them on an 07, or are you not the original owner?

Mine is an 06 Attak with 4800KMS, 3rd owner. Previous owner to me never did them but had the sled into our Yamaha Dealership last year and they checked over everything and said it was good to go...not sure if they looked at donuts though. I'm going to have a look to check the donuts and pipes/flanges to make sure all is good. I don't want any surprises when the snow comes. I'm not a mechanic by any means but am not afraid to pull it apart...I've seen enough videos and posts to hopefully not screw it up!

Well I literally just went through it (2 weeks ago), and could do it in my sleep now. I'm happy to help, as I want to pay it forward for all the great people on this site that have helped me. Tips, tricks, etc...I can help if you want it. Here's my thread, which started with just wanting to swap the exhaust.
Not all of what I learned is in there, but a lot is.

And one thing I've learned with the sled I just bought (which I knew, but had a lapse in judgement), don't believe anything someone, who is trying to sell you something, says.

If the sled don't stall like you turned off the key when you plug the exhaust its time to have a look at them. I use tennis balls to get a good seal.

I ship to Canada via USPS. Offering 20% off to Canadians to offset exchange too.
