So since the Nytro XTX is about 10mph faster that the 121" Nytro who thinks the APex XTX is going to be king of the lake as far as yamahas go...

I personally think its going to surprise a few people>

Ive had my stock Nytro XTX hit 112mph GPS and now with Mods 114GPS..(still more in her maybe 117mph) 121" Nytros can come close period...XTXs are fast on top end...very fast :flag:

anyone

Has anyone put a XTX skid under their Apex? I am doing a total overhaul of the 06 Apex instead of buying a new one and this is one of the upgrades that I was thinking of. I am planning on a Yamacharger to go with all the other goodies so I would love to give it as much traction as possible while keeping the top end.

tests

Has anyone actually done any testing on speed of this set up. I am so very close to picking up a skid and track I just don't want to be disappointed. Don't want to beat this to death I just want to get all of the opinions and experiences as I can. Thanks boys!

The GPS and gun show about 3mph on the top end but the speedo show 12mph less. With the hookup of a 144" the track you get less spin like the 121".

I went to a stretched out mono on an RTX 06 with 144" tip up, 1.25 pred. Didn't loose any top end (GPS) and way better hole shot. 23 top gear and white clutch spring.

Not sure what it did for top speed on mine, but the ride is definitely worth it! Depending on how big you are, I would suggest the Hygear spring spacers, and definitely a shock re-valve no matter what size you are. With the Cobra track, it turned into a whole new machine!
I did drop one tooth on the top gear as well. I do have a template for this swap I made by removing the skid from one of my XTX's, and after locating it in the Apex chassis, I just made the top of the track level with the tunnel protectors, and it worked out perfectly. Pm me if you want any info, I can probably just send you the measurements, or tell you how to make the same template. I did fabricate my own drop brackets from a 1/4" aluminum plate also.

One other little thing I like about doing it this way is that parts may be more available in a pinch, since it's all factory pieces. Especially with the new Apex XTX, it should be easier to maintain.

I am putting an xtx skid into T-2(03 rx-1 on lotsa boost) this fall. Will see how that works!!!
