Make sure you let us know what you get for feedback from owners on the trail.
Seems about as close to a 50/50 split as could possibly be.
- How much of a difference do you feel in overall power between then Vector and Apex??

I just bought a new XTX as well. I like it for the versatility. I have had short tracks and prefer to hit the powder and lessen my chance of getting stuck. Also I'm wanting to go out west and can't see renting a sled when I have a 144 now that I can trailer out. I'll sacrifice a little trail riding handling to be able to get the most use out of my sled. Also I saw a lot of reviews where this 160+ HP monster now needs the extra track to truly hook up.

Good question......
Hugely significant difference in torque. Vector is fun and good enough between 0 and 65, but Apex is just insanely fast all across the power band.
With the Apex in Vilas Cty. WI, you can't give the throttle more than a 3-4 second full pull anywhere other than trail 8 between Conover and Boulder Junction.
Put it another way, you ride the Apex and it just "peggs" the fun-ometer, the acceleration is phenomenal, especially on freshly groomed hard pack.
Line up the Vector and Apex on a lake, doesn't matter if a 100 lb. 14 yr. old is on the Vector or not, the Apex walks away at about 65 MPH.
After owning an Apex, I don't think I could be without one again.

Keep your ltx ! it rides better then the xtx ... Power steering is really no big deal .. I had an 07 attak and now got the xtx and i ride a ton of miles so i was able to really see the diffrence between the 2 sleds... the new one has more torque not hp ... And in my opinion its baisically the same sled with minor improvments...Wait till yamaha comes out with somthing new...

There will be a lot of opinions. If you have a chance, you'll need to ride one to really decide for yourself. As far as powersteering, it is a big deal. It completely changes the typical force required to turn the machine. Factor that into an all day ride and you'll not want to ride without it again. I couldn't disagree more with Mad-R.

I really like my 2011 xtx it handles the large bumps better and the power steering is nice because you can put more bite in the front to compensate for the longer track just takes a little chassis fine tuning. My 2008 gt was better on the small studder bumps but not the big ones.roofman65 said:Looking to buy newer apex I currently ride a 2010 apex ltx and want to upgrade to power steering ride mostly in the U.P. 90% on trail wondering if xtx would be overkill and would sacrafrice handling and ride over the reg apex could spend hours reading post but thought i could get current input

My 2cents. I have a 12 XTX and my wife has 11 Apex. For a plush ride nothing beats my wides Apex but I like big bumps and to play a little so XTX is great for me for now. The XTX is also very good in the studders. Went from a Nytro to Apex XTX and my normal speed went up 10 to 20 mph that's what my wife says. So easy to drive. You are not going wrong with either! Tough choice!

I would just find a Yamaha demo ride in your area and test them out yourself. I'm an XTX guy, but some prefer the shorty too. I believe the XTX suspension is also stronger, where the shorty has the mono with tranfer rod that sometimes break.

- I told him that I was going to be looking for an XTX in the near future, and to let me know if he came across one.
- I'm on an '08 Apex LTX GT 136 right now.
- He is well aware of my riding style, and where I ride 99% of the time, and he said I'd be ALOT more happier on the SE, then the XTX!!
- I was really surprised, thinking that the XTX was the way to go.
- Not sure if I want to go back to 128 or not, but he says he won't be on an XTX this year, he's on the SE.
- I will be putting some serious thought into it...
- He also said that with the changes coming in 2014, the Vector "may" be dropped to support a new model.
Did he drop anymore hints John, or was the rest tight lipped?
Lets hope we get enough snow this year so that we can Demo a few more Yamaha sleds.
I am really wanting to try a 136 Vector LTX as I think that would be perfect for me, but I am real curious on the 2014's now!

You can't really count on dealers words can you? Mine told me he see's a turbo apex in the future and some low cost model of the Phazer with more power. All in all he says Apex will remain pretty much the same because statistics "apparently" are saying that middle aged to older population are buying them sales are good. Is there much truth in that ????? Who knows.

But to get back on topic I will be buying an SE if they don't come out with a brand new 2014 model. I ride 99% groomed trails I think the 128 would highly benefit me and I want to try the air shocks.

Love my XTX but always wonder how an SE would feel in comparison. I'm a heavy guy so chose the torsion springs on the XTX over the Mono shock on the SE. Not dissapointed at all, very stable at high speeds, hook up is best I've ever had and I don't feel like a have a "long" track at all. Hands down the best sled I've ever owned and I've owned many, good luck.

- Nothing really more. Just telling me that the SE would be better for me than the XTX.
- He's got a 2011 leftover XTX priced decent, but it's blue, and I want the black.
- He was even giving me decent $$ on mine. Tempting, but the decision is made. It's the 40th for this year.

- Yeah, I'm 80% sure on an SE. I'm 99.9% trails too.
- There's something definitely coming for 2014, but I'd let the bugs get ironed out during the first year. JMO.
