Hello all.
I would like to get another apex, specifically the newer model with servo. Here in norway we only got them from 2011 to 2016, and only xtx models. Are there any differences between the years that are worth noting (except colours, and the fact that the 2014 and 2015 had the ohlins ttx dampers)?
Like would a 2011 model, which is most common and cheap, be the same as the others, or would it be a lesser model?

2016 has a 146" skid compared to 11-15s 144". Also the 16s came with a fox float shock in the skid that isnt very good

Yes it is. I got a new shock from my dealer and it rides great now. I believe that the 2011-2015 sleds are basically the same.

Yes, and it rode like a brick!! Upgrading to 17 shock was much better.
Also 16 is 2 inches longer at 146 and does not have tipped up rails.
Imo all years are close enough that you should focus on condition and price!!

Thanks.
I don`t think I`d want a 16, because I have a set of nos ttx`s laying around, and they won`t fit..
Like most people I`d want a 14 or 15 with ohlins, but they are really sought after, so they aren`t cheap. I can get an 11 with decent miles for almost half price..

I am looking to upgrade from my 2010 to a newer model also, I can find 11's and 12's all day for sale but 13-18 much harder. starting in 11 upgrades were Power steering, EXup and higher seat...16 's have the single shot suspension in 146, the last apex had some real nice upgrades, ( 11-18) but 18's got the new shock front set up with single common reservoir for both shocks, fwd and rear dampeners. I am just not happy with the Yamaha cats..... I have loved the 4 banger since 03 and even more so after fuel injection ! My 10 has the ohlins and still rides good! Time will tell and good luck!

Minor change from 11-12 ski spindle location on the skis. also wheel location in the skid the wheels help with hyfax wear not sure why they changed the skis. if you get too new the come with tuner skis for me that is another expense because they would have to be changed.

other than the skis and the skid, the apex xtx was the same other than the colours availible and the option on the 1-3/4" back country on the 2016 sleds. owing both a 2016 and a 2011, the 11 with the tipped rails corners better in the trails. cannot comment on off trail as the 11 has custom clutching that makes off trail much easyer but they both are really similar off trail as i run 09 mtx skis on both sleds. i did need the up grade to the 18 spec shock but the guys in the aftermarket have made a coilover set up to replace the air shock.

Stay away from 16, 17, 18 they ride like #*$&@, go with a 12, 13, 14, 15 much better suspension , Don’t be swayed by these silly add-ons of the 18 it doesn’t make it any better it’s just more problems out on the trail if it breaks

well there is a 2012 up in the classifieds if you are still looking.
i am almost happy with how the 16 is set but it took me 3 full seasons to get the 11 set how i wanted it, so i will be giving the 16 the same grace period.
going to have to check with my tape measure but the mounts for the 11 look to be in the same place as the 16 skid, so they might be interchangeable.

Agree stay away from the SS rear go with the CK suspension. I couldn’t find any Apex xtx used cherries in WI so had to buy a new doo so consider yourself lucky to find xtx cream puffs in your area. Most used Apex xtx here have big miles and should from 2011-2016. Thanks for all replies. I`m keeping an eye out for what`s for sale.
Right now there is a nice 15 model for sale right now at about 12k$ with some options. it`s a tad expensive, when you can get nice/ok 11`s for about 5500$ (from time to time). Then there are a few really low mile 16`s for 15500$.
The nicest one, to me, is the 14, so I`m hoping for one eventually.

I bought my '15 XTX in 2017 with under 800 miles on it for under $10k.
Love it!
