i'm installing the oem rear cooler in my 2007 attak.
wondering what others have done.
the tunnel protectors extend all the way to the tunnel extension, therefore the cooler can not be installed.
are guys just cutting the tunnel protectors shorter to allow install ?
has anyone removed the protectors & tried to bend them so they will fit over cooler when re-installed ?
i have seen posts on cooler protector fabrications, is there anything wrong with just welding aluminum square stock directly to the cooler fins to prevent studs from hitting ?

Rear heat exchanger

Just installed mine. Not to hard. Followed the directions off this site and used the info from one of the guys on this site to fabricate the protectors. He had pictures of how to do it . Worked very well.

not sure if missing something or what ?
on the 2007 attak my tunnel protectors extend to about the middle of the tunnel extension. this means the cooler can not be mounted flat against the tunnel extension area. i believe it must be different then the apex & rtx install.
i'm also sue that this cooler is larger then the apex cooler.
anybody ? i'm curios on what people are doing with the tunnel protectors.

I did mine 3 years ago, but I think I had to cut about 6" off the protectors in the rear.

I did my 07 Attak with a cooler and then fabricated protectors from stock bought at HomeDepot. The protecters start ahead of the cooler and back to the farest rear of the extension were I fastened them. The cooler will sit flat in the area. I cut the cross pipe in half so it would be easier to get out.
I got the info on how to do it from these guys.. It's pretty easy to install the cooler. The protectors were harder as I tapered the front and shaped them over the cooler then to the back. I also added an extra 1/8in. aluminum straping to the 1x3/4 stock to help strengthen it and give more clearance.

Here's a few pics from my installation. Between the actual installed heat exchanger and the fabricated protectors, I added a thin piece of slider material just in case there was some friction between the two.

Here's how I did mine, I don't run studs so I didn't bother extending protectors...this is a OEM from YAM.
