When someone does modify their air box, similar to the pic above, is a fuel controller absolutely necessary?


No. You may need to adjust the CO setting if you have a stumble coming off idle.

Alright. How about with an exhaust? I have an excel pipe and read in other posts a fuel controller is necessary. Thoughts?


I have the lid and the exhaust with no fuel controller on my sled for 3 years now with zero issues.
