I was out the other day in minus 30 degree weather and was able to open up my GT for about 1 mile. When I let off the throttle a huge back fire accured. Tried it again and same thing happened. It was dark and you could see the flash in front of the front suspension. Machine ran great. Went back to the shop and removed the air box cover and clean as a whistle. Anyone else have this happen to them. I talked to my dealer and he said they had the same thing happen to there Attack at the drag races in St Annes 2 weeks ago when it was frigid cold. He said fuel loads up after you let off the throttle and you get the back fire.

This is true, not to worry, it's normal. I believe the Apex is alittle rich on the top end.

Mine does it too, only I have learned to let out of it a little easier after full throttle runs. I dont do it just for the backfire, but the engine braking can make it a little squirly at high speeds on certain snow conditions if you let the throttle slam shut too fast. Kills 2 birds......

i got my dealer to lean it out alittle more, he stated that they all run rich . he did this after my first service and now mine has never done this. Pretty simply job took him like 1 minute to hook up and change everything a bit.
cheers JP

Doesn't have to be cold out for it to happen. Next time look back and you will see two foot flames.

Hey blue; can u elaborate on the changes your dealer made and do all dealers have the info to check this?

My dealer says you cannot change the fuel settings on EFI? However I know you can change the fuel from idle to 7000RPM though the instrument pod, but that is not going to change the fuel @wot.
