OMG, dont clean the clutch with the engine running, thats just a horror story!
The problem with the belt burning is that you arent carrying the momentum you need, simple as this. Some of these things wil help the situation but this is almost 100% your problem. Even my 500 fanny smokes the belt like a Cuban cigar if I try doing what you did.
BTW, the yamaha belt sucks extremely, it is such a hard rubber compound that the cltuches cant grip, so they slip and burn. This happpenes to me all the time with a yamaha belt and actually, just last night, I blew up me second Yamaha belt. Thats two for two now and all the other belts Iv ran like Ultimax3 last forever and just wear out, and dont ever burn. Iv burned stupid ridges in my Yamaha belt then it runs rough as it isnt straight.
Try an Ultimax 3 or XS next year or next time you blow a belt, you Will not be dissapointed!
