Has anyone tried combining a 23 top gear, and a white secondary spring in an Apex???
Your comments about the outcome are also welcome.
Acceleration? Fuel Economy? Top End?

Yes alot of guys have tried the 23 top with white secondary set at 6 + 1 with lots of studs for hook up! This set up seems to work on stock sleds!
Yes acceleration is better ! Fuel Economy not as good as stock ! Top end they say is about the same!

Don't put the the withe secondary at 6-1,it will coil bind.6-1 is the setting of the pink spring.
The white spring setting is 3-3,i tried thas spring and i was revving 10800 rpm.

Thanks ROCKRTX, i'm going to try the spring with both top gears. My personal feeling is that from a dead stop the 23T combo could be too much, as well maybe too abrupt for trail riding.

when I'm installing this spring.....what are you refering to 6+1, 3+3.
I see the numbers on one half of the secondary. Please explain.

They are number mark on the secondary sheave ( 1,2,3 ) and number on the helix ( 0,3,6,9 ).Place one end of the spring on the sheave at 3 and the other end on the helix at 3 so that equal 60 degree of twist.Place on the sheave at 1, and 6 on the helix give you 6+1=70 degree of twist 6-2=80 degree ect...

#1 GET RID OF THE SECONDARY YAM. CLUTCH AND PUT A PARAGON CLUTCH IN PLACE OF IT. OR PUT AN A/C SECONDARY ON IT , THEY MAKE ONE OF THE BETTER ONES.
# 2 GET RID OF YOU 2 CYCLE SPRING IN YOUR DRIVE CLUTCH AND IN STALL A 4 CYCLE SPRING.
# 3 TAKE YOU CLUTCH TO A MACHINE SHOP AND HAVE THEM REMOVE .025 OFF THE BOTTOM SO THE BELT WILL RIDE TO THE TOP . 20 MPH +. OR YOU COULD PUT A POLARIS P85 CLUTCH WITH 58 GRAM WT . ARMS , GRIND TO GET HOLD RPMS 10500.
# 4 TAKE YOU ROLLERS OUT INSTALL BIGGER ROLLERS OR PUT SELVES ON THEM TO MAKE THEM BIGGER. MUCH BETTER HOLE SHOT.
THAT SHOULD HELP YOU A LOT.

Thanks for the advice, but i love this sled too much to start putting Polaris parts on it. Yamaha has done a great job with this machine, I'm just trying to tune it using some alternative O.E. parts.
Reliability is number one priority!!!

Next question how will An A/C secondary fit on A splined Yamaha shaft? Last I saw A/C uses A 1" slotted keyway.

I've never really understood why you'd change clutches anyways. I've always thought the stockers work VERY well.

Better one yet the clutch spring found in the 2003 RX-1-ER is A 90501-582L1-00 SPRING, COMPRESSION (Y-SL-Y)
And from what I see it is not found in any 2 stroke sled from Yamaha
Instead of cutting the secondary why not use the three bolts that Yamaha installed on the back of the secondary to make belt adjustments?
Has anything this guy said made any sense to anyone?

well...no....but...maybe he's got a secret setup that we haven't thought of...now all we need to do is throw in an Edge skid and some precision skis and we'll have a Yamdoopolarcat.... I couldn't resist.

Easy now I run Polaris suspension lol I have 2005 IQ rear with Walker Evans and long travel Walker Evan Shocks up front.... But all I do its ride ditchs and pipeline and was sick of breaking the stock stuff.... Oh #*$&@ and I also have some Ski-doo running board reinforcements as well.... LOL
BUT I would never run Any A/C or Polaris clutchs The Yamaha stuff is much better than the P85 or any A/C secondary...
I actually Doubt the P-85 will even fit on the Yamaha stub....and I know for sure the A/C secondary wont fit on the Yamaha splined shaft.
