Apex ER or RTX or GT??? Input?

I have decided to sell my two-smoke (1997 AC ZRT800) and get an Apex. Problem is, which one? I want reverse, so I guess that rules out the GT (no reverse available, right?) I like the RTX look, flames and graphics, but I have heard mixed opinions on the Fox floats - some say they are fantastic (on paper certainly) but some say they are too stiff and are also hard to adjust to the right pressure. And I am not an extreme rider, just love speed (and good handling is always nice!). Sooo, I was thinking of getting an Apex ER in red, but it seems like all the speed freak sled riders love the RTX .... so for resale it looks like the RTX would be better than the Apex ER if I sold it in a few years.

Input? Is the Apex ER 'manly' enough? :? Are the Fox floats really awesome or are they stiff and finicky? :ORC I know that even the Apex ER would be light years better than my ZRT in every way and I would be happy with any Apex, just curious about input on the diff models ...

By the way, :rocks:

All the sleds come standard with reverse except for the RTX. However, it is available.
Don't worry about the floats, Yamaha wouldn't use them if there were issues.
Sounds like the RTX with Reverse is the sled for you :yam:

The GT is what you want then, the best ride going with the electronic Oylins in the back, piggy back shocks up front with tons of adjustablilty in the front. This is a groomed trail riders dream. The GT comes standard with Reverse. Welcome to the site....

If he's looking for the best ride it's the Attak. Talk to the guys that rode the 06's last winter, it was unanimous from what I remember reading.

The GT does come with reverse. The only one that doesn’t is the RTX with the Fox shocks.

I bought the GT because I felt it was worth the extra $$ for the shocks.

I also feel that once you have a sled with reverse you will never go get one without it.

As far as the Fox shocks are concerned. I don't believe anyone has any real time experience with them yet to really say for sure if they are the wave of the future.

As the snow fly’s more rider reports will come in…….

You are defiantly making the right decision by dumping the cat!!!!!!

I got rid of my 89 Cat and never looked backed after over 25,000 miles!

The best riding sled is going to be the attack because of the length. Go watch the video's. The only benifit to the Ohlin is the handle bar adjustment and the miles you can put on it without rebuilding it.

I rode MR sleds 121 05 RX-1 Mono shock with teh standard shock in it and it was flat awesome

Just so as not to confuse things...

My RTX has the backward handle (reverse). The RTX can be ordered with reverse!

There are so many opinions on which model is better and why - and few of us have any saddle time on these machines! GT better than the RTX? I bet the difference will be negligible. Attack better than the Apex? Attack will smooth out some of the bumps (I own a Rage too) and might hook up a bit better in loose snow, but I did ride all of the models this spring and felt that the shorty was "quicker" feeling - both off the line and in/out of corners. The shorty felt as if it accelerated harder, but spun more too.

If you can wait to ride the actual models before pulling the trigger - DO IT! If not, buy what you think will be the best for you and begin offering bar-stool advice like I am! ;)!

if all u are gonna do is ride groomed trails, then its the GT or RTX,no need for a ATTACK on groomed trails.....chances are u are not gonna find a GT so that leaves u with the RTX.....i thought along time on which one to get,in the end i got the RTX/with reverse...either one is an awsome machine ;)!

The ER is actually a great machine....I think the shocks on the ER work really well.

If you are a Glitz kind of a person.....go RTX or GT.

If you just want an awesome trail machine at a minimum price and not so concerned about decals and such get an ER.

I got an RTX...I guess you know what catagory I am in!!!

LOL

i disagree, the attak will be great on groomed trails, trails always get rough and with the longer track youll be smokin your buddies on the stutters and wuups..

Get the ER if you want a no frills, go fast sled.
Get the RTX is you like to ride the big bumps.
Get the GT if you want the ultimate trail sled.
Me personally, Id go with the ER. That way, you could go with the shocks that you want, as opposed to what an engineer thinks is the best.
Honestly, I dont think you can go wrong regardless of which Apex you go with.
Nothing against the Attak either, but for the kinds of trails that I ride on (tight 'n twisty trails of Northeastern Wisconsin), Id rathar have the shorter wheelbase and lighter weight of the Apex. When the trails get really bumpy I park my sled, so the big bump performance really isnt a big factor to me.
