Try offering $8900 and see what happens it wont hurt. That is still above some of the lower pricing available now in the Midwest so it should be quite resonable to ask and see it they will go for it

Hey I work in Ogdensburg, NY. Blevins Bros. has a Yamaha dealership right in Ogdensburg. They are usually pretty decent to deal with.

I ordered my APEX from Sovie's Cycle Shop in Canton which is about 12 miles from Ogdensburg. He's not the most "refined" dealer but it's VERY hard to beat his prices.

Hey 06apexer. Can you provide any info on the paperwork/procedure to bring the sled into Canada. I was at both Blevins and Sovie's on the weekend...prices are attractice; but need to know the rest of stuff you have to do. I have brought in antique cars before..but never anything new. Thanks cantom

I checked last spring, and this is what you have to do to bring a sled into Canada. 1st off the NY dealer won't charge you state tax because you are out of state. You "may" require a letter from Yamaha USA stating there is no outstanding recalls on the sled. i say "may" because i have heard that very few people actually get asked for this at Canada Customs. When you hit Canada customs you have to pay GST on the amount payed converted into Canadian dollars, When you register/lic. the sled (MTO) you must pay PST. Now there is also a $190 fee you must pay which is estentially a certification fee, ensuring the sled meets all Canadian standards (reflectors lights etc.) I believe this is payed to the garage (Canadian tire etc.) and must be done prior to registering/lic. the sled with the province.

So I'm interested, what type of prices were you getting from these dealers? and for what models? I 'm considering an APEX ER if i can afford it after getting my rood re-shingled.

I'd be carefull if you plan on having any warranty work done at canadian dealers. My buddy had some trouble with many dealers giving him a cold shoulder. He ended up driving back to USA for repairs. His case may be isolated , just stating what happened to him.

Sovies the dealer in Canton NY quoted me $8800 for an Apex ER. NY stae tax is not charged to a Canadian resident. There is no extra cost for the PDI or anything. He did not have any Apex's at this time...but some on order. Said he would call when they are in. He has a large shop, sells motorcycles, 4 wheelers and sleds, lots of accesories as well. He is on Hwy. 11 a few minutes east of Canton.
Blevins in Ogdensburg quoted a little higher, but I think would come close. He has a red Apex in stock as well as a red Attack. Also has a couple of left over 05's.

Hi canton bought mine blevins bros cost GST @ border plus $182 R.I.V. package then $50.00 @ Canadian tire & PST. when reg is done @ ministry
I feel the 1hour 10 min drive was worth the extra 4 year warrenty option but as said before Canadian dealers will not touch your sled for warenty work Ps stay away from 05 unless you want to do a bunch of work to correct problems I paid $9300 & got $600 US in Yamaha bucks Then $800 for yes warenty

As jonmig mentioned, we may not expect to recieve war. coverage on a US sled purchased by a Canadian resident. But I can, and will accept going back to the US for any war. work required, and my local dealers will be happy to do any other regular service (on any sled for that matter)....$75/hr is $75/hr. Many people drive farther than 80 miles to get to there dealer . As I mentioned in a similar thread in the spring, I would like to purchase from my local Canadian dealer I have even talked to them and Yamaha Canada about it, but its unfortunate Yamaha Canada has choosen not to stand behind there dealer network and has allowed a price descrepency of approx. $2000-$2500 CA, when everything is said and done on a a Apex ER. Did the NY dealers mention if the price quoted included the $600 yambucks that are available till Dec 1 2005 in the US? Yamabucks is Something else that Yamaha Canada felt us Canadians did not deserve this fall .

So unless something changes , I will buy my sled (assuming my roof shingling does not cost to much ;) ) legally from the states. I suggest others Canadians do the same. Perhaps if enough sales are lost this year, it will entice Yamaha Canada to give there dealers a price break so they can compete in the market next year.

I did not ask about the Yamabucks...my assumption was that the dealer was quoting a "net" price.

Another question. Did you do any paperwork ahead of time, or did you just show up at the border with the sled, and start the paperwork then???

I am glad I checked out this post. I want to get an 2007 Apex. You guys have saved thousands by buying in the states. Smart move guys. Thanks for the info on brining it back. Do you guys now if it has to be a week day for when you cross the border or can you clear it over the weekend?
