I removed the whole exhaust and have to cut the flange off the pipes to slide the new flanges on but the instructions don't say anything about the pipes having a lip on the one set should I cut the lip off the pipe and grind the wend down flush with the pipe as close as I can get it need help please would really appreciate it thanks

The flanges are not bad on the y pipe there only bad on the other y pipe but I was going to replace all 4 of them since the kit came with them and the copper donuts should I not worry about doing the flanges on the aftermarket y pipe just do it on the other y pipe and be done because once I get the copper donuts in I should not have a problem with it

Good call! If that pipe with the collar is good, just leave it. Why add an extra joint to it.

That lip you eluded to on the y-pipe were added to the header pipe in later years to help block out snow from entering the area where your header pipes and flex flanges are located. When one of the flanges my titanium y-pipe cracked on my 08 Apex, I replaced with SS pipes which had those lips welded on.
Go with F/X Garage Works Kit . No more donuts that fail . Best mod I have ever done !

If this is an 06 Apex, just but the steel pipes right from Yamaha. I wouldn't consider anything else. They are not that expensive and are very durable. Yamaha should never have put those garbage titanium head pipes on.

Left pipe is titanium, right is steel. I also think the right pipe is a Yamaha pipe, not aftermarket. If these are off the same machine, then the one on the right is the steel replacement.I removed the whole exhaust and have to cut the flange off the pipes to slide the new flanges on but the instructions don't say anything about the pipes having a lip on the one set should I cut the lip off the pipe and grind the wend down flush with the pipe as close as I can get it need help please would really appreciate it thanks
