- Present Sled: 2011 Yamaha Apex 128
Just picked up a leftover 2011 Apex and I'm looking to equip it with the essentials
I see there is some space in the nose of the machine but I'm also seeing some vital components up there that I would hate to disturb
Anybody storing any goodies that might be needed up there, like a tow rope? I see Yamaha sells a bag that fits in there, anybody using this bag?

me and my buddy have one each of the bags. I throw mine in for trips and he leaves his in for the season. The only thing i did was lossen the wire that is on top of the regulator (thing with the finns on it) and turn it out of the way.
They work great. have had no problems and between it and the trunk you can get quite a bit of stuff in the sled.
I do however try and keep the light items in the nose bag .
Not sure why yamaha dosen't have some sort of storage from the factory up there?
cheers

I have the nose bag and keep a set of jumper cables and a tow rope in the bag. No issues after over 1400 miles this year.

Storage
Can't use a bag with 2011 and newer Apex. There are now 2 heat sinks up there; 1 for regulator and 1 for EPS. I just stowed my tow rope, jumper cables etc under them up front with no problems.

I had a small backpack up there for years. Put all my tools in it. Got it for $8 at Walmart. It worked better then the bag made for it. In the summer I would put it behind the front bumper between the frame rails of my quad. Even mounted it to the passenger seat of my R6. Pretty handy little bugger. I had it zip tied to the cross members. Hard to explain the zip tie locations. Wrap the upper straps to the bar under the breather on the Apex.
I have a 13 Apex, and purchased the front nose bag from the Yamaha dealer before even looking at the space there. When I got the bag and installed it I realized it was not worth it. After installing the empty bag in the nose it was pretty full and not much room to put anything in the bag so I returned it to dealer. I do keep a tow rope w/ a very small bag the holds an extra Schrader valve and the pump for my fox float in the nose of my sled.
