I had a chance to try the GT vs the Nytro this weekend.
Basic Conclusion - I liked the Nytro Chasis better.
The best way I can describe it is that at 6'1" and 240lbs I felt a little cramped on the GT. I've had two Revs in the last two years and it was better than that but I think the best compromise for me is the Nytro, your a little bit farther back, sit a little higher and the Bars are higher. On the GT when I went through the bumps it felt like I was getting jammed on the GT(Although not nearly as bad as a REV). On the Nytro I could sit back give it gas and carry the front over the bumps better. The Rear end seemed to work much better in the Nytro as well, much more progressive. The rear end on the Apex moved a lot more(upsetting balance) but didn't ride any better.
Power wise once you got past 100kph there was no comparison GT all the way, although down low the Nytro Gearing and agressive clutching more than compensated, it actually felt stronger at trail speeds. I believe it has a better powerband for trails. In terms of response the Nytro Carb motor was as responsive as the GT EFI.
The big advantage the Nytro had was noise. It sounds nice and is a lot quieter than the GT. I think the GT might get annoying after a while.
All in all, if they cost the same I might actually pick the Nytro over the GT, given that the Nytro is thousands less, I think it is Yammies best Value of the year. Will it win drag races - no. But on a real trail that wasn't perfectedly smooth I think it would be faster and much more enjoyable over the course of a day.
My ideal sled would look like the GT, have the riding position and seat and suspension from the Nytro, with a geared down Apex motor for more low end torque with a much quieter exhaust system.
Just my 2 cents. BTW the Nytro wasn't any colder than the GT with the Stock windshield.

I agree completly and sure hope the Nytro gets FI for 07 and maybe the delta II, either way I am pretty sure I will have one next year. The springer rear sesp is awesome.

I agree with you on the rear suspension. It works a lot better than the Mono-shock, transfers better and is more progressive. Yammie should have put this rear end in the RTX even if it does weigh more.
My first exposure to this rear end was on an '05 Venture in which it worked awesome even taking into account the longer track vs the 05 RX1 monoshock. I could fly over whoops 15-20 mph faster on the Venture than the Rx-1.
Here's hoping for next year. Lets hope for a 130hp FI Nytro with Delta Box II looks a higher seat and less weight.

The stock mono is not a rough trail suspension at all and Yamaha has admitted it by not using it on the Nytro. The Nytro was my personal favourite at the demo rides.
