Hey ya all, i own an 06 apex and was watching youtube clip's on gutted apex exhaust, they sounds great but is it worth it ?
And can there be any longterm negative effect's on the engine?

Thank's

if anything you loose some horsepower it is strictly for the sound many have had it done for years now i have never hear bad except at certian rpm levels it can howel in your helmet so some have went back to stock but only for that reason.

Changing to a Excell Muffler will net you 5hp on the Apex. I am sure if you tuned the exhaust, you could get an additional 2-3hp over stock. I know my sled really woke up on the bottom end with an Excell muffler.

I also would like to no what hp gains if any?

if your looking for performance buy a system, gutting is for sound

True. But it sounds much much better gutted IMHO. But my recommendation is do not touch the cone inside. There is certain things in the muffler that shouldn't be touched. If you just cut the crossover tubes open it sounds very nice, not annoying.

But I wouldn't claim it to be a power adder at all.

Allrigth gutted it is then, i love a great intimadating sound but not to anoying .

thank's .

And thank's super sled for that crossover tip.

Did you read above??
And i ask you why not better sound?
Have you herd these thing's go braaaaaaaaaaapppp?

It does sound better. No power gain. I wouldn't say it is a lot louder but just a little more narly... I have never had anyone complain about my exhaust being loud, just how nice it sounds... btw, I'm not a fan of nasty loud exhausts, but a huge fan of quality sounding exhausts..... On another note, i found the stock exhaust had a drone at cruising rpm, this mod changed the drone to another rpm range for me and it is actually easier on my ears now...

Exacly what i'm looking for , nothing nasty but better sounding without loosing hp.

I put a Bender exhaust on my 03 RX1. It sounds nice in the garage, or with the sled sitting on a stand but I grew tired of the noise while riding 250 - 300 miles a day. I also go tired of looking over my shoulder for police who seem to be cracking down more on loud exhausts. IMO, it is not worth the hassles and I don't want ot be part of the noise problem which is contributing to trail closures. Just my opinion.

I have gutted my exhaust on my 2007 Attack gt and am very pleased with the sound and am not bothered by a drone anymore. I have recieved mostly compliments on the sound. I cant tell you that it made any difference in performance but can say it is a great sounding sledd now.
