My main complaint on my apex since I've owned it is it's handling in tight trails. Fight the #*$&@ out of it to corner. I've upped the limiter, down the limiter, adjusted the spring on the mono, new pilots, shapes, air pressure in the shocks everything. 1 ride last year it was awesome after adjust then went to #*$&@.
Well, first ride my bud notices my sled jumps off the bumps, so he gets on it and boing boing, no shock! I'm 280 so there's no boing in anything.LOL So I went to dealer with shock, They rebuilt it free of charge, yes it was toast. So I put back in, transfer rod to 1/4, shocks at 70 with pilots and shapers and yesterday went to ride.
My sled is now on rails!!!!!!!!!!! Rod with 9 rev'z and 1 xp and could stay with them in the twisties and bumps!! I was amazed. I switched sleds with my bud and he was amazed. No more turd in the twisites and rough!!!! Now I wonder how long the shock was bad? shame on me?
I was thinking of trading for a rev for the tight, but not a chance in hell now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My bud I ride with is a ex-snowcross racer and when I said I could stay with him, he said Ok? I'll turn it up!!!!!! I was right there the whole way!!!!!!! I'm really impressed. 2500 miles of so so and now it's come together!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :jump:

Do you have stock rear spring?
You probaly should get a heavier spring.Too weak as pring sounds licke your cause and you probalky blew the shock out because it was always bottomming.

Yes!!! pro, got a weak spring dealer said mine was weak and ordered a new one. The bb spring I have now is set to full on third clip. New spring is on backorder. He also stated that the 08's come with the bigger spring now. Go figure hahaha

I'm in a similar boat. Had Hygear do my rear susp. this fall, went all the way with the rese and everything. I couldn't ride another year with the constant bottoming. Had the heavy spring revalved and everthing, nothing worked. All I can say now is WOW! Every aspect of this sled is now better, (with the exception of the ergos) even the headlight seems to work better, I actually have a usable high and low beam now. Anyway this sled finally rides and handles everthing the way it was advertised. I no longer laugh at the RTX on the sled as it can take anything I've given it. I haven't even adjusted the dampening from were Hygear had it. I'm going to increase the high speed comp. a little and see, but the rebound is perfect no more riding the bull and fearing for my life over a whoop section. YAMAHA look at what these guys do to your existing susp. take notes. Leave the soft cushy ride for the GT's, RTX should mean RTX not somewhat rougher trail extreme until the shock blows out. Make it like an X or sno pro package. I shouldn't have to spend $800.00 on shock work to be able to ride a sled labbled RTX. In fact I won't do it again, I'll look somewere else.

i have the 5.5 spring and had the shock revalve by pioneer... now it rides unbelievable.. eats studders and pops up over small mogals..

I did the shock upgrade from Hygear last year and now it's a different suspension.I can fine tune the suspension to my need.
I still got a soft ride without bottoming.Hygear did a great job with that shock.

Thank to HYGEAR suspension! ;)!

Pioneer did mine mor $180 with a revalve, rebuild and updated seal from ohliens..

no.. the spring is $100 from the dealer and also available from pioneer..

turnaround was fast, 2 weeks with the shipping

i guess if you were in that kind of a hurry. you could have it over nighted and over nighted back..

S$%t 2 weeks is too long during riding season

I had Bruce at Pioneer revalve and rebuild my mono, and my ohilns with the update, and had them back in 2 days. Granted, I had to pay overnight shipping charges, but in the middle of primo riding, money is not an option!!!! I now have 2000 miles on the rebuilds and still just a strong as the day I re-installed.
