Every year or every other I get some exhaust leak. This year my excel headers are cracked right near the front mount point. My set up is factory accordion with copper donuts, excel headers, stock exhaust. Sled is supercharged and according to a lot of exhaust formulas the exhaust is too small for the power the sled makes however any minor changes like my yoshi or headers show very little in the way of extra power.

I'm thinking of running a turbo header to a auto muffler and tunnel dump it. The muffler would fit up front because I'll switch to a XP fuel tank. I will lose all the performance of a proper header though since the front mount headers are less then ideal.

Or just keep apply band aids to the exhaust? It's getting a little old. The fixes last about 1500 miles.

Any other ideas?

Maybe weld it up and wrap real tite with hi-temp exhaust wrap.soak wrap in water for about 5hrs to get it to move better and tighter.if you do, it will smell when it gets hot and eventually stop.i have never put it on a sled header, but do use it.

I think it is because the exhaust system is so big. There is a lot of movement and vibrations which cause it to break. under tunnel dump would help

I think there are not enough supports for the muffler part of the exhaust. When I had the factory headers and muffler I broke the Y of the muffler pipe.
I have been running a full Excel system for the last year. Noticed this year that the rear bulkhead has been taking a beating from the muffler-pipe joint. I have now added a support at the joint to lessen the bounce in the system.

I WOULD CALL EXCEL AND SEE IF THEY WILL WARRANY THOSE HEADERS ,THERE NOT CHEAP AS U KNOW.

I HAVE A QUESTION ?
I HAVE A MOUNTAIN APEX WITH STOCK HEADERS AND EXCEL TUNNEL DUMP EXHAUST,BUT THE MUFFLER IS WAY TO LOUD FOR ME.
DO YOU KNOW ANOTHER COMPANY THAT SELLS A QUIETER MUFFLER THAT WILL FIT MY APLICATION?
THANKS ,TIM

Just a quick update, Aaron Excel is shipping me some headers today! He hooked me up big time. He appreciated I was honest about the sled being boosted as that is harder on exhaust parts. He actually gave me some good advice and sent me some funny videos to boot haha.

Class act, I enjoyed working with him, rare to find good service lately! Much appreciate Aaron thank you!!!

Glad to hear YOU were able to get good customer service from Excell!

My Excell headers cracked last year. They found all the rivets sheared under the gas tank. This was allowing the tunnel to flex too much leading to the cracking. If people are having headers crack they may want to look at the rivets.

Both my sleds were the same. Pretty much all the rivets were lose at around 6500 miles. This included the rivets that held the bracket that the exhaust bolts to the tunnel with, as well as the rivets that hold the tunnel to the bulkhead.
