Hello guys, havnt posted in some time but trying to get an idea to why my sled is super loud out of the rear pipes. I replaced my donuts about 3k ago but will replace them with this tear down but cant pin point my problem. in the last 100 miles my sled has gotten extremely loud out of the rear, sounds like a modified muffler but its stock. It does not backfire and I cant hear anything from the donuts location. When I cover the pipes the motor doesnt even hesistate so I must have a bad leak. It sounds pretty badass but I know its a problem so I have to fix. Any thoughts?
Thanks!
Thanks!

look at the silencer where the two go into one and i bet you will find a big hole.

Ok thanks! I will be taking it apart tonight so I will keep posted on my findings.

Out of curiosity, would it do harm to just ride it with a hole in the silencer if that is the case?

Mine looked like that 3000 miles ago when my first set of donuts went. she was backfiring also. I replaced them with the new thicker version but I hope they didnt get messed up because that would be another 500 bucks down the shitter :/

you could harm the valves the silencer is ss so it can be welded.

Ok I found the exhaust cracked in half on the pipe feeding to the rear muffler. I am going to weld it but can't figure out if the pipe is stainless or not. It is magnetic but it has no rust and is lightly blue from heat. Any ideas?

I would say that it is stainless steel. Titanium is not magnetic it is paramagnetic.

Regular mig welder will work on the pipe that is connected to the muffler. Had mine split at the Y and welded it up with no issues.

lots have welded it and had it hold up a long time even if it only lasts a year or two better then a $500.00 silencer.

Force4000 said:I took it to a welding shop and they said being it is low grade stainless steel and that I want to have it TIG welded with a EF409 filler. I have attached some pictures of the snap. What did you use with your MIG welder? has it held up for a long time?
Just used a regular wire feed mig. Mine broke halfway thru the season. The weld has about 1000 miles on it and its still good.

Thanks for the response, I had my buddy just MIG it together with standard 309. I will grab some pics when I pick it up after work
