Apex MCX problems.. need help

I'm giving up.. worked on it most of the afternoon.. but i'm going to admit.. i plain just dont know what i'm doing on these sleds.. So hopefully allen will get back to me.. or maybe i will have to take it somewhere else

It may be the altitude compensator sensor hose in the nose cone beeing filled with water condesated from the intercooler, that would make the sled run bad. The hose comes off the intercooler upper right hand side. With this hose plugged the computer dunno what to do with the input it gets from that sensor, throwing the ECU into a failsafe mode of some kind.

I do not have a Apex MCX turbo on hand to look at, but I have seen guys disconnecting the sensor in the front nose cone as a fix when their sleds are running like crap.

You have to find out where and what the plugged hose are supposed to do, shown in your pics.

Thats the problem.. I have no idea.. mcx said they wouldnt send my any information on the kit.. because I was not the original purchaser of the sled.. so dont know where to go or what to do now

I pm'd you :-)

I don't think Joel had the sensor hose hooked to the intercooler nipple. On the 06 kit like mine you had to make your own unless you had a dealer thet would get you one. Hope you get it working. I spent three years trying to get mine right, hopefully now it is OK. Could have bought 2 new turboed apex's for what I got into mine to make it run.

problem solved for now

took the sled out this weekend.. ran very well.. finally got to feel it on boost.. wow... didnt have enough clutch weight so I couldnt really hammer on it or it would hit the rev limiter instantly... going to get that fixed this weekend when i get to the big mtns..

Still a little rich on the bottom and lean on top.. but that should be fixed witht he purelogic box.. I should still be safe when it hits like 13.1 for a second?

The boost gauge is hooked into the right side (as sitting on the sled) of the intercooler.. and a couple seconds after i get on it it reads 8-10lbs of vacuum.. normal?..

After doing some jumping and huge wheelies with the sled.. the steering post seems a little weak.. havent broke it.. but sure feels like i'm going to.. anybody else have this feeling? or had them break?

Had my first wreck with the sled too #$%&* :o| ... sled rolled backwards down a hill bout 60 ft. then rolled 3 times... ruined the scratchers.. both side panels got really loose..

Thanks everyone who posted on this thread to help me out.. I really appreciated it.. I owe all of you a couple beers.. thanks guys.. hopegully have pics up next week of my first big trip with the sled.. :rocks: :yam:

Glad she runs :-)

Chubby had the same Cyberdyne electronic boost guage as I had. He said his read high at idle. I didn't like the fact that it also read vacuum. Mine never seemed to react fast enough to on/off thottle bursts. Never saw over 9 lbs on it and when I replaced it with a boost only liquid filled Autometer I was up to 17 lbs. I don't think it was very accurate but Cyberdyne did tell me that it had to be grounded to the engine block.

Hope this helps, I'd spend $90 and get something you know works.

Ok... just got back from a trip... and lets just say i'm NOT happy at all.. This sled ran like chit all weekend.. never made that great of boost.. Was in deep snow all weekend.. could never keep the snow off long enough to do anything... A stock 800 xp was killing me in the deep stuff.. :(

On the trail one mile it would run hard.. the next mile it would quite pulling at 9500 rpms and start sputtering..

I'm not at all happy with the sled.. I need to find somebody that is willing to take this sled and get it working correctly... anybody have suggestions.. would like to find somebody that could take it out and make sure its running

help?

Where is your intake located? I am having similar issues and believe it is 2nd to steam getting sucked into the intake side. I am putting a snorkel on my sled so it can pull fresh air from outside the sled. My sled would run great on the trails or on hills where the snow was set up. Then when I hit any pow the sled would run like crap. It would bog and burble. Just a thought.

I have the intake out the back.. Going to start designing something different for it this weekend.. however dont believe this is the main contribuitor to the overall problem with the sled....

anybody?

The vacuum/boost gauge you have sounds like a Cyberdyne digital. They read vacuum without flashing, when they go to boost they flash when reading boost. Their boost only gauge does not do that, it stays on when under boost but won't register vacuum. Sounds like its not boosting if its only reading .1 lbs. Hope you get it figured out.
