I’m currently riding a 2004 RX-Warrior that I really love for trail/off trail riding but as soon as get into medium/big size hills the weight of the sled is a real disadvantage compare to the Doo Summit/Renegade 600/800 that all my friends are riding. I get stuck 4 times for 1 compare to them. I tried a Renegade 800 and I went up the hills much more easily compare to with my Warrior. :o|

I really want to buy a mountain sled for next year and my question is will I be happy with the 2006 Apex Mtn ? My concern is that that the sled is near 100 pounds heavier than a Renegade/Summit 800 and I really don’t want to be stuck more often than all my friends again! Should I be better off with a left over 2005 RS Vector Mtn which is about 25 pounds lighter than a Apex Mtn ? Any comments from those who are currently riding a RX-1 Mtn will be appreciated and NO I can’t afford a Turbo and No I don't want to buy a 2 stroke!
:4STroke:

Hey Tundra, any comments ??? ;)!

Where you ride, with a RS-vector mountain, you will be stuck far less often than guy with a renegade. And they are easy too drive in deep powder, like RX-1 mountain, and i guess APex mountain. The only place where they hard to ride, is on rough incline hard pack, or crusty snow.

For sure, you will be happy with those mountain sled, and you have ride probably the hardest sled in the Power Line, a Warrior. Those ski Narrow stance are fun in powder on the mountain, more easy to trow around.

If you came back on Mont Valin this winter, let me know, i will let you try mine ;)! It's should''nt be a pain, theyre are same color

162" track goes a long way to not getting stuck . I don't get stuck with my 03' 159" Unless I am not paying attention and do something stupid like stop when I am facing uphill.............

162 x 16 x 2.25 is too much for condition like mine and one of Errol.

But this is a real sled for man :D I think of it everynight since monday LaLaLa . One day she will be mine

Go with the Vector with the 151" track. The new 162 X 16 X 2.25 will give you lot's of grief on the trails. The new Attak is pretty sweet but only has a 136 X 1.25

..............Trails ?....................... Whats That?

..........................Yeah ... It's custom made to order for Alaska or B.C.
Though.......

SlyMax, I already have a 136 X 1.25 (RX Warrior) and it doesn't do very good in the mountains and I don't see the Attak being any better than my Warrior. I think the Vector Mtn (151 X 15 X 2) might be a good compromise... But the Apex Mtn is sure very appealing! A very good compromise would be an Apex Attak with a 144 inch track! Like the old SXViper Mtn!

Appealing yes, but did you see yourself riding a school bus in the trail :drink: I see that ok, if you do more off-trail than trail (like i do), but otherway, you will have some concern with slide burning. That track is the monster i dream of. i want one, i want one, hummmm a sixteen incher(drool)

Honestly, just with the Vector mountain, you will give Renegade guy some headhache, not only in deep, but when he will see you in woodtrail or even in snow covered lake chasing his but like a Mouche a marde :drink:

Maybe your not as strong on top end, but those little 3 holes are severe on torque. They(800 twin) will pray to never get a ''gripette'', because they will eat it hot winched behind those torque monster.

Get a grip man, you will be ''flying high again'' (Ozzy Osbourn  ) behind my 3 hole(r)

i would go ahead and get the apex mountain. i have no weight problems in the deep stuff with my 04 and a 151. In the deep stuff you just have to learn how to ride it

i dont think i can afford an Apex mountain so ive been checking out the Vector SE. im wondering if 120hp would do well hillclimbing

Why not just throw a king cat track, MPI ext, bar risers, and a boss seat on your RX1? I would do that before I bit the bullet and went down in hp.

because i dont want to be spending that money modding it. i like the 162" track, the 06 seat looks, the rear rack, and the fact that yamaha makes all of it so i can get it serviced without a problem. ill take spending the money on a new sled that looks awesome and rides awesome stock over modding my current sled

Then it might make sense then - but I still think it would be hard to buy a sled with 20+ hp less than your current sled! You gotta find a way to swing the Apex!!! :)

well im only 17 paying for my 692 a month truck payment and my crazy insurance payment, along with fuel going 2000 miles per month, then i have to pay for fuel for the snowmobiles and each have gotten about 1000 miles this year

the vector is a grand and a half cheaper is the thing

A BIGGER TRACK is always better. My buddy had a 162X16X2.31 on a STOCK 2005 RX-1 this year--that thing was FRIGGIN' AWESOME!
Simple physics- less weight per square inch.
The tipped up rails make them turn easier and feel shorter on the trail.
Attak is only 7lbs lighter- and 30 HP less-Don't go there, or, to the 151"X15X2- you'll get slayed in deep snow.
