I think I read somewhere the the Apex Mnt rear torsion springs are a stiffer rate than those of the OEM MTX. My OEM's seemed to take a serious set this season, won't hold up the rear at all. Also I can bottom the suspension by simply pushing down on the rear bumper. I have all the suspension springs at max. So I guess that I'm looking for a set of the Apex Mnt style. I want to upgrade the skid to a Mnt Tamer type but don't see it in this years budget. If anyone knows of a set a springs for sale please PM me with the info......Thanks

stock mtx 1300kg and the stock apex are 1700kg you can order up to 2100kg

I have the 2100's and they are BEEFY. Unless you're real big or drop huge cliffs, go with the 1700's

I bottomed the stock 1300 springs on the stiffest setting, I then got the 1700 springs and couldn't bottom them on the softest. They're expensive, but definitely worth it.

I think I will have a set of Apex springs available after Xmas. Buddy is doing a skid change on a sled and has 2 Apex skids. If anybody is interested PM me.

IF you are not going to spend the money on the new skid and spend the coin to upgrade springs why not go this route??
I'm ballancing on wether or not I keep this Nytro another season or not. The springs would be a low cost fix for this year. If I do keep it, I'll probley go with the K-Mod conversion for it's last season with me. My normal routine is to upgrade every two years. Thanks for the link!

better check the prices per spring (new) on the apex upgrade. they are not cheap. what i ran last year is a set of used stock apex mountain springs. with guys upgrading to k mod, timbersled, ez ride ect.... they can be had for a reasonable amount. i went with the timbersled and put the apex springs on the wifes sled. ski

They actually came down quite a bit in price over the summer. They used to be like $170 per spring, now they're only $65 per from South Seattle Sports Plaza.

How did the trip go Ski??????? We need pix's!

Crow,

How big is really big? I am 6'1" 230 lbs and I am bottoming out the stock springs before even sitting in the dang thing. I can simply press down on the back bumper and bottom out the suspension let alone sit on the dang thing and ride it. Thanks

I'm 215 w/o gear and I haven't bottomed out the light setting on the 2100's. I would think unless you're 250+ the 1700's would be okay depending on riding style. I think they make 1900's though.

Here's the p/n for the 1900's 8ES-47474-10-00 & 8ES-47473-10-00 $58 each

thread jack.... bodi, i had elevation sickness ALL WEEK, had an issue with the front end subframe on mine, looking for parts right now. then i broke a torsion slider and bent the tar out of lynnes stock rear torsion spring. 36 hours to get home, lost idler pulley on the diesel at -20f in minnesota. caught a cold on the last day.

but on the bright side i saw about 6 moose, hundreds of elk, had some decent riding most days i was feeling well, got to meet MTdream, he helped with the front end issues, and lynnes sled to keep us riding, and took us to some deep mountain meadow powder.

wasnt the greatest trip, wasnt the worst. thinking i am not going to stay above 7000 feet ever again. better to sleep low and ride high, than stay high and ride high. even being in great shape (gym training 3-4 days a week for 7 months prior to going out) it sucked being sick out there.

that was the second time in three trips outwest i had elevation sickness. dont want to do that ever again. ski

Ski, sorry to hear about your troubles, glad you managed to salvage part of the trip. Sometimes when things start going bad....it just rolls south. Now that your back to Max HP elevations, hope you get some riding in over Christmas.
Laters, Bo
