I've got an 07 MPI Apex MTX.
I was out riding today and noticed engine oil leaking from beneath the belly plastics. I pulled the plastics and checked the oil. It was just below the low level. I couldn't determine where the oil was coming from yet.
I then added oil and didn't put the oil tank level sensor connector back on. The sled ran fine and didn't throw any codes and no trouble lights.
What is wrong with the level sensor here?
Why won't it show me low oil level?

Does anyone have any ideas?
I'd really like to have low oil detection.

Here is what you need my friend, your not testing the sensor correctly this the process from the MPI manual basically holding the sensor up right and out of the oil and then upside down and out of the oil should get the light to come on or off. Good luck
PS ignore anythign related to the MPI supercharger kit

Thanks, I'll try this out.
And just for everyone's curiousity my oil leak was one of the half moon rubber gasket plugs pulled out from the side of the head and was losing oil everywhere around the motor.

check the sensor per the owners manual specs. I'm sure you measure the resistance in ohms, determine if its the sensor or ECU

Hey guys, well I found out my low oil light does work due to another oil related situation.
But I think if you did leave the dipstick connected to the wiring and held it out of the tank it should alarm in a bit.
Thanks for the help.
Now I just need to get the bugs worked out of tuning my Stage 2 MPI. Right now it feels like it's never going to run right.

Hang in there they take a bit to get dialed it then its gas and go. When your adding that much power to engine and fuel injection system there will be obstacles, but nothing the guys on here cant help you with.

The sensor in the dipstick can get clogged up, blow clean with compressed air and it will start working again. The low oil level light will not come on until you are close to the sensor housing on the dip stick. Just under E is plenty of oil, remember E stands for Enough not Empty. The Apex engine also have an oil pressure sensor to protect the engine, the RX-1 engine have not.

I now realize the oil seems to need to be below the "E" to alarm in. It is working though.
