Sled is an 07 ER Apex, dealer sold my grandson OW-30 will that work for a complete oil change,he got 4 qts.

Go with the 0-30

I prefer the Yamalube full synthetic 0W40 (LUB-00W40-FS-12)

Sled calls for 0w30, but oil debate threads are like ski/carbide threads. :o|

i run 0w40 mobile 1 synthetic European formula

0w30 semi synthetic yamalube is what the dealer will reccomend. if he has around or over 5000 miles i reccomend the 0w40 full synthetic as it starts easyer in very cold conditions. i use the 0w40 in all my apex's and rx sleds.

OK thanks guys, well he already bought the oil,so I guess that's what he will use.

Although I believe the 0W40 full synthetic is a better Yamalube oil than the 0W30, the semi-synthetic must be acceptable to Yamaha considering all of their oil change kits include it.

you can get the 0 w 40 sythetic kits but most dealers do not order them.

Yes, even the semi-syn is a much higher grade oil than the spec in your owner’s manual calls for. I run 0w40 full syn, and have for likely 40k over all the years I’ve been using it.

Good to know as I just thought Yamaha only made the oil change kits using the 0W30 oil as that was all I ever saw at any of the Yamaha dealers I visited. Therefore, I was just purchasing the 0W40 by the case and using Napa Gold 1358 oil filters for my two Apex's and RX-1.
