I was going to buy some of the Yamaha 4-S0W-30 oil for the Apex instead of useing synthetic oil since I only have 400 mile on it. I thought it might be worth the piece of mind to use Yamalube till around 2,000 mile or so. Well I was very surprised when I looked up the oil (acc-y4s0w-30-12) on Extreme Powersports website ony to find that the oil cost $79.00. WOW!!
Is that for a quart, a case, a gallon? I quess that I will just head over to Advanced Auto and buy a few quarts of 0w-30 Mobile 1 synthetic.

yup! 8.00 a quart at local yammy dealer here for yamalube, went to napa got mobil 1 ow30 full synthetic for 6.00 a quart ;)!

Yamaha has issued a tech service buletin on why you cant use regular automotive oil, something to do with the spring clutch, save some money on repairs, call your dealer and ask

I'm not positive, but I'd guess that the -12 on the part number indicates that it's for a case of 12 quarts. Yammi's part numbers are sometimes very literal as to what the part is. Look in the accessories catalog at things like the Optimate battery charger/maintainer. Also things like covers, etc.

Picked up my 07 rtx on Sat. Asked what oil and they told me not to use synthetic because it causes the ring clutch in the starter to stick. The mech. told me that yamaha will always use a small % of mineral in there oil. If it's that $ I might just use motul semi, run it in my R1 race bike and never had a problem. Dan

Last fall I bought a case of 12 yammie 4-s for $47.00. I figure that I'm good for 4 seasons of riding........... I can put up with that.. :-o :4STroke: :jump: MM.

^Just imagine how much youd spend in oil to run a 2-stroke 4 years.
I used to go through 1 gallon of 2-stroke oil every year at $30 a gallon (Polaris VES 2).

That's right... And peace of mind is a nice thing to have on all day trips... "NO" oil useage. LaLaLa MM.

Your right BigFoot. I called Extreme a they said that the $79 was for a case of 12 quarts. I was hoping that the oil didn't cost $79 a quart. They quoted me around $7.00 a quart for the Yamalube, now I just have to order some and do a couple of oil changes. Thanks Again: Ronnie
