I am in the market for a new sled. Looking at the Apex or the vector GT. I have a 2006 rtx now which i am selling. I am curious as i have never rode a vector. I know the HP diff is about 30, but i mostly trail ride. My question is, is the difference in power that great or is it mostly top end? I really like the GT package on the vector which is the only reason i am considering it.

if it's a 2010 vector gt, then that's definitely what you should buy - best trail sled made.

You will miss the hp if you go with a Vector....

If you go with the new 2010 vector GT or GT LTX you will not miss the power. It can keep up with any sled until 100mph. You won't miss the extra weight of the Apex and lugging it around in the windy trails. I traded in my 2008 Apex GT for a 2010 Vector GT LTX and I couldn't be happier. Great trail sled. If you want to be the fastest sled in a straight line then the Apex is your sled. If you want a sled you can put on 150 miles a day on the trail go with the Vector.

Have to say I'm partial to an Apex GT LTX. I enjoy having the power when I want it and the long track combines for the best trail ride I could find. I have no problem putting anywhere from 150 to 350 miles on in a day. If you haven't rode a LTX you owe it to yourself to try one.

tough decision

Have ridden both. I love the power of the Apex, but admit the Vector is the best riding sled I've ever driven. I would have to think a turboed vector would be the ultimate ride and if I had the $ I'd have one. As for what you should do, consider if your priority is speed or trail. Otherwise if you've got the cash, get a vector and mod it to make it a top speed monster.

Not just the weight but how it sits in the sled and how it handles in the trail. Ride both of them and you will know. I have and the vector is the winner hands down. :bling

A question right up my alley. I own both an '09 Vector GT and an '09 Apex LTX GT. Rode them both for a week between 12/26 and 1/2.

The Apex motor is silky smooth and the ride is 2nd to none the way I have it setup. The ride was SO good, the wife only wanted to ride the LTX Apex, so I actually spent more time on the Vector. She claimed the handling was more predictable on the Apex with triple points vs. the factory carbides I haven't switched out yet on the Vector. I have shims on the Vector and I thought it handles real nice for the factory 4" carbides, but she didn't like the feel. I think the Vector is more nimble to trail ride than the Apex, but I'm more aggresive of a rider than her. Even the kid liked riding the Apex. I felt like they weren't showing the Vector enough love because I did some long rides on my own and I never got sore once last week, which is unusual for me. I'm amazed by the rear skids and how they soak up bumps - on both these sleds.

As for power, the Vector can do just about anything on a trail, corner to corner, that an Apex can do. I was surprised at how little difference there was in low end, and mid-range acceleration between the Vector and Apex. The difference is, the Apex isn't even working at trail speeds, it cruises, so you know theres alot there on top end. I just didn't get to hit a lake to try it out yet. Had them both up to 90 max, on the trail, quite effortlessly I might add. I really thought I'd feel more immediate punch at trail speeds from the Apex, but don't get me wrong, its still fun and quick. But the Vector has one strong motor in it for a quote, "120 HP sled".

In my opinion, if you don't need to win races on lakes, or don't ride with guys that run 75 - 80 on flat, straight trails in the UP for mile after mile, then just get the Vector and forget about it!

if i were to buy a trail sled it would definatly be the 2010 vector, there new and pretty cool. the local dealer sais there definatly faster then the old vector, i know they rnt as fast as the apex but u could probly drive it faster on the trail

I just tried the ltx GT and WOW, you can feel the weight difference, the new mono skid works like a charm and that 120 motor pulls really hard....
