Apex Primary Clutch Spring

Im running a stock 06 apex but want a little more Umph of the line.. What would you guys recommend as far as primary clutch springs? Im looking for something to give me another 400rpm before engagement. Also I was thinking about dropping a tooth in gearing to a 23.. pros/cons??

Keep the engagement stock or lower for trail. All it does is spin harder with a higher engagement. The lower gear will help some but could also make you spin more depending on conditions and your traction. Traction is everything.
 
With 192 studs you have better traction than me. If you want to make it a little higher go to the next higher preload yamaha spring in their springload chart. Just make sure your full shift load is the same as the stock spring. It usually goes up about 200rpm each higher springload you go. You could also shim the stock spring. Just make sure you don't get coilbind. Alot of studs helps acceleration but kills your top end. Just matters what you want.

If radar runs on ice is not your thing, my suggestion to you is to gear down. I'm running 20/38, and still can hit 111mph on gps with overdrive clutching and let me tell you, HOLD on tight.... :Rockon:
 
Yeah you get the belly machined out of the primary sheaves where they meet at the shaft. This allows the clutch to shut further driving the belt out further. You can run lower gears and not lose any top end because the belt grows out the top to make up the ratio loss.
